1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description:
Up for sale is my 1980 Mercedes Benz 300TD.
I bought the car from a Mercedes Benz mechanic in the Santa Maria, CA area about 5 years ago.
Prior to the purchase, a new radiator and overflow tank were installed on the vehicle.
Recent services/part replacements:
- Valve adjustment ~1k miles ago- Coolant, brake, transmission, oil fluids and filters changed prior to this winter.- Both fuel filters changed prior to this winter- New rear brake lines and brake master cylinder ~1k miles ago- 1 year old Firestone Winterforce tires on the car with less than 1k miles on them- All 5 glow plugs replaced prior to this winter
The car has spent most of its life in either California or Texas, so rust/corrosion is less than that of a car from a colder climate. However, there is some rust in the usual W123 locations: underneath doors, beneath battery tray, lower front fender, windshield drain, rear hatch. Other than those areas, the car is dry and solid. No frame rust or corrosion on the undercarriage.
The interior is in pretty good shape. The dash is starting to develop several small cracks, so I purchased a dash carpet to help slow the deterioration. The initial is faded in line with a vehicle of its age. There is no sunroof on this car so no need to worry about the issues associated with them.
The odometer is inop. as is the climate control system (very common on W123's of this era).
Also, this car has the aftermarket rear springs installed rather than the vacuum system.
I love driving this car but my priorities have shifted so its time to sell this wagon to someone else. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.
