1984 Toyota 4Runner Description:

This is the one that started it all! 1984 Toyota 4Runner 5-speed, straight axle, 4-wheeldrive. A true legend in the four-wheel drive community. It is without a doubt a highly collectible vehicle. The value of these trucks will only increase with time. For the past 15 years this truck has been getting a slow restoration. During this time it occupied my only garage space never seeing a drop of rain. I love this truck! I've spent hundreds of hours sanding, painting, and rebuilding this classic. These trucks are known for rust issues. I took off all the surface rust on the frame down to polished metal. At this stage I used a rust converter just in case I had missed anything. Then applied a ridiculous number of coats of the worlds best rust protection (Par15). This was also done to the floors, rear of the inside, wheel wells, and bumpers. I then repainted the inside with brown Rust-Oleum paint because I didn't like the look of black Par15. The bumpers and bottom six inches of the exterior cab were spayed with PUR15 and then Raptor liner. The front and rear axles were stripped, painted, and rebuilt. The rear axle has new wheel cylinders, brake pads, bearings, seals, chromoly axles, 6 inch shackles, and Bilstein shocks. The front has FJ80 front brake calipers, rotors, pads, bearings, seals, and chromoly birfield axles. The front axle has a Trail Gear gusset top and bottom. It is bulletproof! The front was lifted 2.5in with a set of Old Man Emu front springs. The front should have a set of either Old Man Emu or bilstein shocks. I'm not sure the front has enough lift for Bilsteins. I was letting the springs settle before making that call. The front also has a new driveshaft. The engine had a water pump and timing chain at 110,000. The engine has been upgraded with a header attached to a new exhaust system and new Redline Weber 32/32 carburetor. Like every other Toyota 22r engine it lacks power and should eventually be switched with a modern drivetrain. The clutch is a little soft but worked fine for my intentions. I have a brand new Centerforce clutch, winch cradle, the rear bench seat (needs reupholstering), and fifth matching rim for a spare tire that go with the truck. It has new body bushings and hardware all around. Custom made lightweight front and rear bumpers. The steering drag link is rebuilt along with most of the other steering components upgraded or replaced. There is no slop in the steering and it drives straight as an arrow at any speed. This is a super reliable truck. It has always started every time no matter how long it sits. Everything that I've done has been tested but barely used. The 4-wheel drive works great. No expense was spared with the highest quality parts I could find. There is Lucas oil in everything. It gets driven around town every so often and handles fine on the highway with a set of Toyota aluminum rims and Cooper tires. The tires are new with less then 500 miles. It is time for someone else to enjoy this truck. There are a few things I'm leaving for the next owner. The exterior paint could use freshening up and some factory interior pieces need to be tracked down. I built this truck hoping to strike a balance between reliability, drivability, and capability. In my opinion, this is the best overland truck ever made. It is ready to be outfitted for a new adventure. There is a baseball size dent in the rear passenger corner. Other than that the truck is straight.I will except PayPal or Venmo for the deposit. In the event I don't receive the deposit in time or a no show buyer I will relist immediately so be on the lookout for that to happen. Best of luck!
