1973 Plymouth Barracuda Description:

World's only LA-360 Hilborn Stack Injected Street Driver 'Cuda. This car turns heads where ever it goes because of the 8 velocity stacks sticking up through the hood. Doesn't matter if you pull up at a stoplight next to a T-Bucket, 'Vette, Nomad, or something with a blower, tunnel ram, bird catcher, etc. this is the car that gets all the looks. Stack injection is rarely seen on the street anywhere and never in a 'Cuda.

The Car:Originally a plain Jane 318 Barracuda with a large aluminum radiator with 3300cfm electric fan, power steering and power brakes. Being a street driver there are some small rock chips, blemishes, and some surface patina in some places but no rust/rot issues. I consider it a "8-10 footer" in that from that far away the car just looks stunning and the small imperfections are not obvious.Exterior color is Dodge Intense Pearl Blue with white vinyl top and white 360 hockey sticks. The front grill was recently repainted with brighter Gran Coupe silver color and texture instead of the darker grey that is standard with this model. The front windshield is new.

Interior:Black with original Barracuda seats front and back, A/C Rally dashboard, center Slap-Stick console, removable Autometer Tachometer, and individual Oil/Temp/Amp gauges. The speedometer, head lights, turn signals, and wipers work fine but most of the other factory dash gauges have been disconnected although they are still in place. The heater core, heater fan, and under dash A/C-Heater ducting has been removed and the firewall holes welded up and smoothed down. There are custom embroidered flames with double blue stitching on the inside of both doors.

Engine:The LA-360 engine has recently been rebuilt and has less than 700 miles on it. The engine is bored .030 over with a new Callies (Internal balanced) forged crank, Eagle H-Beams, Probe lightweight forged pistons, CompCams hydraulic roller cam and lifters, Crane Gold Race 1.5 rocker arms, MSD distributor, PowerMaster 1-Wire Alternator/Regulator in a chrome stock looking Mopar case, Crane Hi-Ball ignition system, and MSD distributor. Cylinder heads are Edelbrock Performers that have been bowl blended and port matched to the Hilborn intake manifold. Also has a 6-quart Milodon oil pan, Hedman Hedders, and 3” dual exhaust. In-tank electronic fuel pump.

The stack injection is one of about 30 old school Hilborn manifolds that were made for the LA-360 back in the late 60's that I had converted to accept fuel injectors by Blower Drive Service and the engine management system is a FuelAirSparkTechnology XFI ECU system. The FAST ECU system is very flexible and allows for easy and immediate adjustments using a laptop. Given that this Hilborn manifold design was never intended for any application other than racing it behaves very well driving around town.

Transmission: A 727 just rebuilt and a new Manual Valve Body installed with a reverse in-line shifter pattern (meaning that it works with the stock T-Handle shifter and center console) with transmission oil cooler. The torque converter is brand new and works great driving on the street as well as the dragstrip.

Driveline/Rear End/Suspension: Mopar 8 3/4 Sure Grip rear end was recently rebuilt with new .373 ring and pinion gears. U-Joints are new and the driveshaft has been professionally balanced. Chassis has welded Subframe connectors. Suspension is essentially stock with front discs front/rear drums with air shocks in the rear. All four wheels have been aligned less than 6 months ago.

Competition: The Cuda not only drives great on the street but also runs well at the local NHRA dragstrip (See Pic). In the last 10 years it has won 4 season points championships, 3 NHRA Wallys, and over 50 individual race victories. Typically runs low-mid 12's at 108-111 mph at 2,800-8,000 ft corrected altitude.

Other: Included in sale are two Hoosier DOT drag slicks mounted on wheels that match the ones on the Cuda (See pic) and a new spare set of high performance front disc brake pads. There is also 8 each Overcoat Velocity Stack nylon rain booties that are supposed to keep rain out of the engine but I’ve not been brave/foolish enough to try this.
