Exterior
All bathed in pristine white paint, the sides have gone retro in their faux woody look and panels. This K car has the square and rectangle design, neoprene bumpers, square headlights and central chromed grille for that classy 1984 look. A white convertible top is power actuated and as we visually move rearward we see some chrome strips for luggage support on the trunk lid and a continental spare enclosed tire on the mid bumper. All surfaces are very clean, rust free, and straight as arrows with well minded gaps. On each corner is a classy wire wheel covering 14-inch wheels wrapped in 205/70R14 rubber all from 2011 and in thin whitewall form. Gotta love that central rear chrome bump out for the continental spare on the bottom!
Interior
With the top down I swing the doors for my entry into the future, (cue the smoke and vacuum decompression sound effect!). I slip by tight brown and tan leather door panels and some peppering of faux wood graining. There is a smooth door armrest panel which houses lots of toggles for the power conveniences. Inside, beautiful tan top tuck and roll inserted buckets have brown bolsters and are in high back bucket format. These are in pristine condition and have a two tone central armrest. The driver's seat is power actuated with plenty of options for exact positioning. A rear bench is equally impressive. In front of the passengers we see a square and rectangle design digital dash with blue LCD readouts. Yes this was the future in 1984. This dash utilizes a fine mix of wood appliqué, stitched leather and some brushed stainless controls and edges for the digital instrumentation. A padded leather steering wheel reaches for me, while I turn the key I hear some announcements as to the status of my seatbelt, door ajar, and key in the ignition. Thanks for the advice Chrysler man with the cigarette radio voice! In the center of the hump is a shifter within the front of the console and it is surrounded by brown, non faded carpeting nice and clean. All high tech and working flawlessly.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a clean well maintained engine bay sits a Mitsubishi 2.6 liter 4 popper which is fed by a single 2 barrel carburetor. There is a 3 speed automatic Torqueflite tranny on the back which pushes power to the 3.02 front axle.
Undercarriage
All rust free and looking much like factory with slight patina undercoating, no rust, and solid structural unibody construction. Suspension is front independent Macpherson struts and in back I-beam with coil springs are on. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums for the back. The single piped stock exhaust is in excellent condition.
Drive-Ability
I turned the keys and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and the car talked to me. Giving me alerts as to fuel status and including other commands in a list a mile long that it can talk out. The car started right up and ran like a champ. Braking is solid, all is functioning as it should, save for the AC which blows warm. I also noticed oddly the heater blower goes from vent to floor when I push the accelerator? The top up and down is flawless.
(In my cigarette radio Rod Serling Voice), "I say YOU Should Buy This Interesting Classic". A blast from the techno past interestingly from 1984 which is the nirvana for the Sci Fi fan. Digital instrumentation and it talks! Although so does my wife, and she gives commands as well so heads up you could be driving your wife!? Dah Dum Dum...symbol strike!
