1995 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 Police Description:

First time offered on ebay. 1995 Caprice Classic 4-door 9C1 police package. Clean Carfax.
This car lived a relatively easy life as an administrative vehicle for the city of Albuquerque, NM from 1995 until 2013 -- never used as a police car, no antenna holes drilled into the roof or trunk area, no cuts in the carpet to mount electronic equipment between the front bucket seats, no holes drilled into the dashboard.
The 2nd owner purchased it at auction in early 2013 and registered it in Arizona with 55362 actual miles. I became the 3rd owner in early 2014 with the odometer just under 66000 miles and ran the car up to 68494 miles during one summer of driving in Wisconsin. Late in 2014 I sold the car its 4th owner. In May 2017 I was able to buy the car back with the odometer just over 69000, and the car has sat in storage since. Recent purchase of another car forces me to reluctantly offer this car for sale again.
Being from NM this 9C1 is amazingly rust-free, and here in Wisconsin I know it will be a long time before I see another as clean and low mileage as this again. Body, rear quarter panels, doors, door jambs, floor pans, engine compartment are all rust-free and super clean. Only minor surface rust underneath the car on the frame, front suspension, and rear axle/suspension.
The white paint on the car is factory original (except for the left and right front doors) and still shines like new. Both front doors had decals or insignias on them which were crudely scraped off before the city of Albuquerque auctioned off the car. The 2nd owner repainted both front doors without doing proper sanding and prep. In my opinion, this 9C1 needs to have both doors repainted properly to do the car justice. In addition, there is a ding in the left side rear door that needs to be removed to make the body on this 9C1 outstanding. Other blemishes on the car include a minor paint scrape on the rear bumper and small paint chips, in no way major detractions from the the car's overall cosmetic appearance but mentioned nonetheless for the sake of full disclosure. It should be pointed out that the fake chrome strip within the body side moldings and bumpers still looks excellent -- not faded, cracked, or peeling due to weather exposure.
The interior of this 9C1 is very good/excellent. Carpet is nice, very clean with no holes worn in by the driver's feet. Fabric on the front bucket seats is excellent with no holes or worn edges from butts sliding in and out. There was a 1 1/2" tear on the passenger-side bucket seat bottom which was stitched shut and is now mostly unnoticeable. Headliner is perfect with no holes or sags. Back window package shelf is perfect with no sun rot. Rear plastic bench seat is perfect. Dashboard is bright with no discoloration and no cracks. Very little of the blue coloration on the steering wheel is worn off, unlike higher mileage police cars that have seen more severe duty. Digital speedometer, odometer, and trip odometer all light up and work fine, and all the gauges work. Factory AM/FM stereo radio works fine, as do all speeds of the AC/heater fan blower. AC blows cold. All power windows work without falling off track, and all power door locks work.
Engine compartment is clean and neat, inner fenders and radiator support are free of rust, and the hood insulation is excellent. All factory-type components are still with the engine -- no aftermarket items, K&N filters, etc., here.
Under the car the floor pans, frame, and suspension are all as clean and dry as you'll ever see. Exhaust is believed to be the factory original -- you can still see "GM" and a part number stamped onto each of the 2 mufflers.
The LT1 5.7L 350-V8 starts easily and runs quietly and smoothly with no smoking or strange noises. Exhaust is quiet with no leaks. The LT1 accelerates the car smoothly and rapidly with all 8 cylinders firing properly. Overall this car runs, drives, and handles excellently -- suspension and steering are tight. 4-wheel disc brakes stop the car in a straight line with no pulsating brake pedal.
Recent maintenance work done on this car in the past 2 years/600 miles:
1.) Front-end alignment @ 68851 mi. with a printout of "before" and "after" camber, caster, and toe
2.) New engine oil cooler lines
3.) New front sway bar end links
4.) Radiator, heater core, and engine block flush and refill with new antifreeze June 2017
Here are some of the RPO and SEO codes translated from the Service Parts Identification sticker on the underside of the trunk lid:
GU4 -- 3.08 rear axle
G80 -- limited-slip rear axle
LT1 -- 5.7L 8-cylinder gas engine
U11 -- police certified instrument cluster
K34 -- cruise control
6Y1 -- front door body side moldings not installed
6Y5 -- external trunk emblems not installed
7X6 -- left spotlight
In regard to 6Y1 and 6Y5, a pair of unused NOS front door moldings are still with the car and are included along with NOS stick-on "CAPRICE" and "CLASSIC" emblems for the trunk lid (AMAZING -- the chances of the unused NOS door moldings and emblems still being with the car after 22 years are probably very remote). The 7X6 spotlight works and moves easily. K34 cruise control works.
This is one remarkable survivor low-mileage squad car that I hope gets into the hands of an enthusiast who will preserve it as a police car and not convert it into an Impala SS clone.
