1952 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Standard Description:

This rare 1952 Standard non import VW Beetle was rescued from a junkyard in Stuttgart, Germany in the '70's by a young American split fan, and restored in the hobby garage of a US Military base. It attended the first Bad Camberg show in 1979, and was shipped to the US shortly thereafter. The car spent the next 20 years up on blocks, locked away in a storage unit in Tallahassee, Florida. Details include the very shiny L21 Pearl Gray paint, the 1950 aluminum case 25 HP motor, full "crash box" tranny, 5-16" wheels on great tires, working ribbed semaphores, correct "notched" front door window glass, painted ribbed bumper (not reproduction), correct wingnut seats, rear ashtray and other hard to find and very expensive details of a pre- October standard split window Beetle. The interior was restored in standard Beetle style with durable modern fabric that closely resembles the original cloth, the short headliner, black 3 spoke steering wheel, 3 day wind-up clock (works), cigar lighter, ribbed rubber floor mats, brown bakelight dome light, correct Standard Split 10-1/2 crank window winders, and inner door handles, rear split ashtray, Standard Split only rear view mirror without sun visor, original gear shift knob and more. The car also has its original "Kraftfahrzeugbrief" German owners registration book that lists the original owner in Leonburg Germany, as well as the delivery date of Sept 19, 1952. It also shows that the brakes were converted from cable to hydraulic for the original owner in 1960. Also includes the factory birth certificate showing a build date of Sept. 16, 195, only 3 days before being delivered to its owner. Included documentation includes lot of photos and paperwork. It shows the car being found and pulled from storage after 20 years. It has spent most of the last 15 years in storage also. The car isn't perfect, but pretty darn close. A few paint touch ups and a little cleaning if you want it perfect.
The paint is still shiny and smooth, with a few touch ups and stress cracks after all of this time. The pans are in great shape. The car fires right up via the original push button start. Fuel system just drained and cleaned. New plugs and points installed. Turn the key on, pull the choke and hit the start button and she fires right up. I am not an expert on Splits, but have owned VW's for many years. I have done the best I can to relay any info I have, but if you have questions, please let me know. This is a great chance to get a split at a fairly reasonable price.
