1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Description:

Here we have a lovely 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe. Registered in California with a clean title this Karmann Ghia has undergone a complete refurbishment. Its been well sorted on both the exterior and interior as well as most of the mechanicals.

I starts up easy enough after a few cranks of the engine and it has that quintessential flat 4 VW sound. The engine although not rebuilt is plenty healthy and offers nice power after having recently undergone a tuneup and lube service. The gearbox also not rebuilt is in great shape, the car shifts through the gears with ease with no unwanted grinding. The brakes have been replaced and pull up nice and straight. The parking brake needs adjusting. New shocks have been installed all around and make for a very smooth ride with no bumps or bangs to be heard. The steering is tight and responsive. The exhaust system is new although it is a little noisy. Overall this is a lovely driving example of a Karmann Ghia and just feels good going down the road.

The interior has been nicely done with new vinyl/cloth seat kits and panels along with new carpet. The dash is very presentable and has a new functional Retro radio with speakers on the back panel. All gauges are functional with the exception of the tachometer. The front and rear windscreen seals are in excellent condition, the rest of the seals while older are still good although some have some minor cracks. The headlights, taillights, indicators and wipers all work.

The exterior has been re-sprayed very recently in the factory blood orange and has nice shine to it. The chrome is in decent shape overall but there is some pitting on the antenna bezel. New hubcaps and wheel trims have been added but have seen some wear due to driving. The body fit and gap is excellent and shows no signs of ever being in an accident.

Underneath the car there are absolutely no signs of rust and has been sprayed with a new undercoat. There are some oil leaks coming from the engine however.

As far as the rest of the car the pictures speak for themselves. All the hard work has been done to make this a an exceptional driver quality car. Something you would be proud to drive around and turn some heads. As always, I would advise inspecting the car in person if at all possible.
