I Love This Car but it is not the right the right car for my daughter to take to college. I guarantee that if i had the money to buy her another car and keep this one you would not be reading this listing right now! Is the car without flaws,...No.
Functionallythe motor purrs, idles beautifully, cranks without hesitation everytime, no skips knocksor pings. However when the car idlestoo long such as in heavy traffic or red lights, fuel builds up and does not burn off and the car will bog out. Wait 5 minutes crank it up and go again. When the car runs freely without extended idle there are no problems. I have tested this many times and i personally know how to manage the situation and what to do but my daughter does not. This problem most likely is one of 3 things, issue with vacuumsystem, Fuel Distributor System is not dialed in correctly, or there is a issue with one of the fuel injectors. I simply do not have the money to investigate and fix and as i mentioned the car belongs to my daughter, she has lost interest in the fun with friends car and now wants something more practical for college. Plus she says she is tired of strange men approaching her to talk about her car.Concerns,...there is a slow oil leak coming from valve cover. Car does not burn oil, or smoke even the slightest.
Cosmetically,...I mentionedTop has a small cut almost in the same place on both sides behind the door which can be seen in photos, honestlyhave no knowledge of vinyl tops but i do know vinyl can be repaired and if so i would suspect this to be a prime candidate as it is obvious the material is strong and in good condition not dry rotted. Previous owner kept the car garaged while in restoration and after, car has been garage kept at my home as well.Small dent passenger side rear above tail lightfrom my daughter backing into a wooden box on a shelf in the garage. Shown in photos.
Interior has original carpet in very good shape but does need to be tacked down where meets the door. It does tack down under foot trim piece at door but finds its way back out and needs a morepermanentsolution perhaps glue. Driver side seat shows heavy wear, Passenger seat has a very very small hole,...far in where the chair folds. Back seats in great shape light rubbing on the top of the back seats facing trunk. Overhead Lining is white and honestly has stains and discoloration and needs to be bleached and tacked up properly. Does not hang in a manor that touches your head or flaps or obstructs view, but im sure it needs to be stretched and clipped im just not sure how its done since it was that way when i got it. Driver and passenger seats both need plastic clips for floor tracks, they are completely functionalbut slightly wiggle and do not give the smooth transition they are suppose to for back and forth adjustment. Clips are very cheap and supposedly not hard to find if you know what you are doing. Shifter knob needs new clip, completely functional and stays in place perfectly just does not fasten. Vinyl over glovebox is separatingat edges, not torn. Wiring for defrosting back windshield is loose in trunk, needs to be completed, nothing is missing i just don'tknow what goes where.
There is the possibilityof fasteners or other interior cosmetic pieces original to the car that i am not aware of, and i have been very honest in my knowledge of the car, its positives and negatives and done my best to paint a vivid picture of all. That being said, please do not knit pick me on basic issues which pertain to the age of the car. This is a 30 yr old car, and that is the beauty here. It is a classic car highly desired by enthusiast and average consumer alike and even if you invest a couple thousand more in completing its restoration you can still come out on top in a resale.
Thank you for taking the time to view my listing.Happy Hunting!
