1980 Triumph TR7 30th Anniversary Edition Description:

Vehicle Original VIN : TPVDJ8AT201019
This 1980 Triumph TR7 is a distinct 30th Anniversary Edition car that has been under the care of the same owner for over a quarter century. So it has seen the kind of care and investment that make it a terrific drop-top classic. And since you have everything from a stick shift to handling as sharp as its pointed nose, it makes for a time capsule that you'll love driving.
The TR7 is a classic that is really starting to get the enthusiast respect it deserves. The styling was considered radical when it debuted, but now we see how it represented its era so well. Cars like the Mazda RX-7, Fiat X19, and 3rd gen Pontiac Firebird have shown us that this was the time for sharp lines and hidden headlights. Plus, we love the color theme. This is a 30th Anniversary car, and so it deserves a color like Platinum Metallic. It was resprayed in 2008, but the fish can still put newer applications to shame today. That's because this has been with the same careful owner since 1997. He has been the long-term 3rd owner, and this even had a long-term first owner. So there is a pedigree to this car that goes right down to the impressive paperwork file. The TR7 was from a time when car companies found new ways for color coordination. So the black bumpers go well with the black rockers and well-fitting black convertible top. And the 30th Anniversary package even gave you some nice brightwork with details like a special wheel trim and the rear luggage rack.
As good as this looks with the top up, when you take it down, it truly becomes a stylish European. The navy blue interior is distinct, and the color looks terrific against the exterior's platinum. And the coordinated tartan cloth inserts in the seats and doors is a tasteful touch. And you can really tell the difference proper care and investments make when you feel the quality of this presentation. The plush carpeting, smooth dash, taut convertible boot, and clean trunk are all part of a time capsule impression. It's such a thoughtful style that you'll even appreciate how there is a Triumph logo placed on the upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo to make even the only real upgrade look stock. While the interior could qualify for a museum piece, as a true British drop-top, this is meant to be a driver's machine. That's why you have supportive bucket seats, a gear stick in the ideal position, a grippy steering wheel, and beyond that is a full set of Smiths gauges - including a large speedo and tach.
Just like a good British roadster, it's powered by a peppy four-cylinder motor. The 1998cc unit looks exceptionally fresh in the engine bay, and so it shows the same level of care and preservation that has been seen throughout the rest of the car. That's why it fires up eagerly and feels ready to hit the road. Part of the true fun of a classic drop-top comes from the full control over the motor, and while there are plenty of stick-shift European machines, rarely do you find a vintage one with a five-speed. Nimble steering, Michelin tires, power brakes, and front discs complete a package that makes sure this upholds Triumph's grand driving tradition.
The paperwork that comes with the sale is worthy of a respected classic like this. It includes the original window sticker, the owner's manual, build receipts, and a rundown of all the details that were restored over the last quarter-century to keep this such a strong Triumph. This is a well-kept classic that also is one of the most affordable ways to celebrate the best of British drop-tops. Call today!!!
