Up for auction we have a very well maintained and excellent running driving example of a 1958 Triumph TR3A. Passed down from grandfather to father and father to son, this TR3 has been under ownership by the same family since its purchase in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1974. Though titled in Arizona this Triumph was brought over to California back in 2004 where it currently resides.
Upon arrival to Los Angeles, this Triumph has undergone a minimally invasive mechanical overhaul, and an extensive cosmetic refurbishment. Mechanically this TR3 has been well looked after. It has had a valve job and the piston rings were replaced. Also new brake lines, a starter motor, and suspension bushings were fitted. The carburetors have been rebuilt and a new stainless-steel muffler has been installed. As a result, this TR3A runs like a top. The engine sounds healthy and runs strong. The transmission shifts perfectly through all gears. The steering is tight and responsive. The brakes are functional, and the suspension feels very good without any unwanted knocks or noises as you drive along. Electrically the car is sound, the headlights, brake lights, indicators, and push horn all function properly.
Cosmetically this TR3 has been meticulously gone through, every body panel has been removed, stripped down to bare metal, rust cut out where needed and repaired. Making this Triumph completely rust free and structurally sound. After making repairs to the body, it received a quality paint job back in 2015. New trim was installed along with new rubber gaskets to the exterior. The chrome front bumper and aluminum grille are in good condition, the rear overriders are decent, and the stone guards are in great shape. All light assemblies are complete. The front windshield is perfect without any scratches or cracks to be seen. The wind wings and see-through UV sun visors are a nice addition as well. This Triumph sits on four good tires with their original wire wheels.
The interior was redone sometime in the 80’s, and though its not original it is very comfortable to sit in, without any tears, and the tan color really suits the exterior yellow paint nicely. The black carpeting throughout is in decent condition and the drivers and passengers side have black rubber Triumph embossed floor mats. The dash is complete with all gauges reading properly, and all knobs in their proper place.
The sale of this car comes with a new carpet kit, original top bows (no canvas top), original side windows, wire wheel spare, car cover, and an authentic Heritage Certificate.
Overall this would be an excellent addition to any collection or to just drive and enjoy as is. Don’t delay and bid to win this stunning example of a TR3A. As always, I would advise inspecting the car in person if at all possible. Please also note that we reserve the right to end this auction early should we receive an offer we can't refuse.
