1989 FJ62

1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Description:

Selling my beloved 1989 FJ62.

She came to me in 2014 with about 220k, only rode her for about 9k over 4 years. She’s at 229k now. Hate to see her go, but I’m starting a new job that needs me to drive 15-20k a year, and this beast is not made for highway miles.

The good:

She runs great, smooth as silk, no major problems. 4WD works great, especially in the winter. The transmission was overhauled in 2008 (see Carfax). I got her new tires a couple years ago; the exhaust system has been replaced. I recently had both rear U-Joints in the replaced. Brakes are good. All belts have been replaced, hoses were replaced and she has a newer battery.

She was a Florida car for most of her youth, up until 2007 (see Carfax) when she was registered in New York. I have used her in the past few winters, so she is showing some rust around the bottom, worst is by drivers side rear wheel (see pictures).

The bad:

She has all the wear and tear you’d expect for a 30 year old truck. The rear struts on the window hatch have gone. The passenger window slips, and can only go down 40%, otherwise it slips off and you have to get it back on track. The other 3 electric windows work. The seats are torn and worn in all the usual places. AC doesn’t work. The radio works but has no left speaker. The rear wiper is inoperable/gone.

The ugly:

The rust. She’s bubbling in spots on top, and behind the rear wheels she’s rusting straight through. See pictures. She’s definitely going to need some bodywork, but she’s not Swiss cheese yet.
