Former government-owned 1976 Toyota FJ-43 featuring a 4.2-liter 2F engine, 3-speed transmission, 4-wheel drive, original soft-top, Carnival Red color code 335, hand-sewn black interior, fully restored 2016. FJ-43 has been stored since 2016. The last FJ-43 to sell at Barrett-Jackson went for $45,500.It was the only FJ-43 sold this year, 2018.

IMPORTANT- I am relisting my FJ-43. The previous high bidder was from Chicago and loved the FJ-43. He said it was the nicest FJ-43 he had seen where the SELLER wasn't asking an arm and a leg. Alas, it takes more than real interest to purchase a nice FJ-43.

I have received some feedback from those who would rather place bids starting at ZERO.I suppose this gives BIDDERS who will never buy the car a chance to participate.It just doesn't make any sense to me.
A permanent disability to my left ankle prevents me from driving a stick shift anymore.The FJ-43 was stored when my injury occurred just after I purchased it from Barrett-Jackson in 2016.

Short History of the Toyota FJ-43 Series
From the Atacama Desert in Columbia to the Rocky Mountains, from the dunes of Dubai to the open plains of Australia, the Toyota FJ Land Cruiser stands alone as the most reliable, long-lasting, and nearly unbreakable vehicle that gets you anywhere you need to be.
The Type F engine used from 1955-1974,made the FJ famous; not the most efficient but virtually impossible to break! It was (and is) commonly known to run 500,000-600,000 miles without a problem. From 1975-1988, the 2F improved on the F, increasing engine size to 4.2L. This engine is a little bit more efficient and powerful than the F engine and it still has the same feel that FJ drivers love.
Nearly the same vehicle as the FJ-40, theFJ-43 is a slightly longer version,and introduced more ways to configure your FJ. The slightly longer wheelbase offered more space in the trunk (the rear) for either cargo or passengers. In recent years, the FJ-43 has commanded a premium from collectors given its rarity in the US.

My FJ-43 starts easily and runs smooth and strong. As it should, the FJ-43 demonstrates the perfect patina around the edges. The goal for the FJ-43 was to offer a solid driver that is tough and reliable and with all the esteem of a legendary foreign market Land Cruiser.
This FJ-43 is equipped with the legendary 2F 4.2-liter straight-six. In addition, the 3-speed transmission was refreshed as well.
The FJ-43 has a slightly longer wheelbase making for more room for passenger comfort. It is still acompact 4x4 and will get you out of many tight situations. The FJ43 can tow just about any moderately sized toy its owners can imagine. Built to mimic America's "hella" tough Jeep, this old school SUV features part-time 4-wheel drive and enough ground clearance to give new meaning to the phrase "stump jumper".
The FJ-43's rugged 3-speed utilizes big gears to serve up an awesome combination of inclement weather capability and off-road ability. A manual steering rack provides the kind of vintage feedback that excites off-roading enthusiasts.Big drum brakes bring everything to a halt FAST.
