1987 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Description:

87 4Runner SR54WD, 5 speed manual transmission

Mileage 165,300WA platesLocation: West Richland, WA [I bought it in Southern CA in 1992.] My miles are essentially all highway but some local miles and a little off-road hunting.I changed oil every 3000 to 3200 miles. I have always used premium gas because my opinion is engines run cleaner that way.I’m the third owner. It’s fun to drive and drives good! 4cyl, 22RE, manual, 4x4.Clear title. No smoke smell, non-smoker.Sold as-is. Interior photos taken with and without front seat covers. It’s OK to see and test drive vehicle before bid if you want. Let me know what other photos you need.

Good things:

A rebuilt engine was installed at 147,215 miles and now has 18,100 miles on it.Installed November 2003 by Toyota factory trained mechanics. I just don't drive it much is why the low miles.

20 to 24 MPG.I have complete mileage and service records since 1989.Let me know if you want these records.

New battery installed June 2016.

New starter installed Sept 2017. I paid $360.

New shock absorbers installed all around Sept 2017, KYB Excel-G gas shocks, lifetime warranty, I paid $200.

Breaks are great – never had a problem. Front & back breaks inspected Sept 2017 by Les Schwab Tires and found to be sound!

Tires are a bit old but lots of tire tread left.Pirelli Scorpion A/T 30x9.50R-15/C1 Les Schwab Tires also inspected them same time the brakes and said they are sound.

Has a flip up sun roof, roll bar, tilt wheel, no dings, no cracked or broken glass.

New radiator installed in 2003.

All original parts – except: upgraded wheel rims, brake master, clutch slave, and I added Warn 4WD locking hubs (manual), rear bumper, new tail lights, new carpet in back (Stockinteriors.com), new front seat covers (Coverking), steering wheel cover. I had the center console arm pad reupholstered. I believe the sun roof is after market, but not sure.

Truck has been repainted two times, always original colors, no body rust (except for two small spots) The 16th photo shows the only rust-like damage I can find. It's at the fiberglass cover and is small.

Engine, transmission, transfer, differential, steering, lubrication electrical, cooling systems all good.

Everything works except rear defog switch and rear deck lamp switch.

Rigged for towing: has ball & trailer light connections – however, I never tried them or towed anything so I assume the light connections work but can't promise.

Top has never been off – meaning no water leaks!

Not so great things:

Front end was hit by a previous owner, but you can’t tell unless the front grill is removed – i.e.,AC cooler was pushed in a bit but works fine.

Heater slide knob control works hard – it can be fixed but would take some work. The baffle downstream of the heater core (air mix damper) is the holdup and is scraping on something. It works best if opened full or closed full.

A bit difficult to transfer from 4WD back to 2WD in my opinion.

Alignment guy says truck drifts slightly to left at high speeds, but I've never notice it.

Driver’s seat belt doesn’t want to retract very well.

Front dash pad is split in the usual location like all 4Runners, but it’s covered with custom fit DashMat, included.

Interior plastic trim post have cracks.I have extras if you want to swap them out (read below on spare parts). Some headliner pulled from trim anchors but it should be repairable.

Driver's door hold open connection to body is broken.

Windshield metal trim does not look the best.

Items needing some TLC:

Drivers door at top of window frame – I can hear some wind at high speeds. Thus, you will want to get new weather strip for around window frame.

Temp gauge – in warmer climates and at cold start, it seems to jump up to normal temp prematurely in my opinion. I replaced the sensor at the block.

Element to catalytic converter is loose and can rattle at low rpm – however, it always passes smog – I suggest you leave it as is.See photo of last California smog check, 2015.

Loses over tablespoon or bit more of motor oil every 200 miles.

Shift boot fabric to center console is lose/detached. You will need to work on that.

AC could use a boost of refrigerant.

Following replaced with OEM parts:Fuel sender, cap/rotor, plugs, wires, fuel & air filters, pvc valve.

There are extra spare parts & items you can have. See photo. However, if truck is shipped, carrier may not allow it to be shipped loose inside truck! You will need to resolve this with carrier or arrange for shipment. If you want or don’t want the below parts, just let me know one way or the other.

Extra mounted spare tire with good tread. No miles on tire – this is in addition to the spare.

Misc. extra small partssuch as: OEM front brake pads, 2 air filters, 2 oil filters, 1- fuel filter, about a dozen drain washers and other OEM fasteners.

Original Toyota mechanics manual – almost mint shape – 4 inches thick.I paid $150 for it.

OEM rear bumper support brackets (pair), interior trim pieces, outside & insider door handles, a mess of fasteners, heater core and some junk yard parts.

I have tire chains. Used once. I would like an extra $30 for them. Let me know.
