A 1985 model virtually identical to this (but a real creampuff with super low miles) recently sold on eBay for $14,900.Shocking yes but just copy this link below into your browser's URL line:

RULES OF THE ROAD:If you have ZERO FEEDBACK (or less than 2 feedbacks) and are serious about this vehicle then before doing anything please be sure to either email through eBay 24/7 or call the number below so we can establish that you're not a squirrel. It won't take more than a couple minutes so please just do it as the last fellow we encountered with zero feedback was not only a squirrel but had an uncanny ability to say one thing and do another, leaving a trail of wasted time and auction wreckage.
This November will mark my 17th year selling on eBay.They say you can't please everybody but I try.By and large eBay members are outstanding responsible people. For some reason, however, the longing for classic old vehicles brings impulsivos with no self control out of the woodwork. They appear not to understand or appreciate all the time, energy and money it costs to prepare a vintage vehicle for a venue like this so they start mindlessly clicking as if this public auction is some video game, wreaking havoc on complete strangers' lives without the ability to actually honor the terms they've initiated. If that kind of behavior reminds you of yourself then please feel free to read the description and study the pictures to your heart's content but for the love of common decency please do not click anything other than the CONTACT SELLER tab unless you have the means to pay per the terms below.
HISTORY:This amazing vehicle was born in 1986 in a factory in Hamura, Japan. It was shipped on a huge freighter to Long Beach, California where it made it's way through the dealer network to Tucson, Arizona where it's lived ever since. Tucson, AZ happens to be the sole location where the US Air Force mothballs all their old aircraft because the air is so dry nothing can rust. If you've never heard of the Air Force Graveyard in Tucson just Google it to see pics of miles and miles of your tax dollars.
3A-C (1.5L) 4 CYLINDER:This legendarily reliable 3A-C runs like a sewing machine.Starts every time with a click of key. Smooth and quiet. Very peppy and fuel efficient. No smoke, no knocks, no issues and no fluid leaks.Runs super cool. Temp gauge never climbs past 1/3rd even on hot Arizona summer days with AC blowing cold. Within the last 100 miles it got a tune up with new Denso plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, air & fuel filters plus an engine oil change with filter. It comes with the receipts for that plus receipts documenting that within the last 9,000 miles it got an engine transplant from another Tercel wrecked with only 119,000 miles. At that time not only was the clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and flywheel replaced but also the rear main seal, the timing belt and water pump were replaced.
5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION:5 Speed transmission shifts tight and smooth. Clutch action feels new because it only has 9000 miles on it. Transfer case engages precisely as designed. This vehicle is All Wheel Drive. The transfer case lever simply engages the low range. Once in low range there is also granny 1st gear you can shift into which is pictured on the shift lever. These Tercels did not utilize hydraulic clutch actuation with the traditional clutch master and slave cylinder. Instead they utilize an old fashioned clutch cable similar to an old VW Beetle. The original factory clutch cable works fine. The clutch pedal release point is a bit closer to the floor than a hydraulic system, however the clutch cable is adjustable. If they ever wear out the professional labor time to install them is only a half hour and the cable is only $69 at the dealer, all of which is much simpler and cheaper than hydraulic systems which are prone to leaks. All the gear oil was changed in every case 9000 miles ago as well.
DIFFERENTIAL & CV AXLES:Factory differentials are stock with open carriers and no leaks and no tears on CV axle boots.
INTERIOR:Clean interior. Dash pad is in great shape for 31 year old desert vehicle that's gotten lots of sun, showing only one 1 inch long heat crack.AC blows ice cold. It's been converted to modern 134A freon and just had all new lines installed. Heat blows hot. All the lights and signals work but the horn does not. Working Panasonic radio CD deck has aftermarket speakers installed in back hatch. Sounds great for just a pair of rear speakers but I'm no audiophile nor have I tested the CD player. Front bucket seats are from a 1986 Toyota 2WD pickup which are very similar to the original Tercel seats. The buckets have seat covers because they're getting thread bare but aren't all blown out.Back seats are in original shape with one seam in fabric torn not from use but rather dryness. These back seats fold down to make like a flat pickup truck bed for sleeping or camping. The rear hatch, once opened, stays open on its original struts. There is a good spare in the factory spot of the rear hatch as well as a jack in the storage compartment. The only minor interior annoyance is that when you turn the key to start it doesn't quite spring back into the normal driving position so as soon as you crank it over you have to manually turn it back that 1/8th of an inch or the starter bendix stays engaged.
SUSPENSION & BRAKES:
Suspension and steering is tight. No wander. No rattles. Comes with receipts showing only 100 miles onbrand new KYB front strut cartridges and new Gabriel rearshocks. A new power steering rack & pinion assembly was just installed, along with new front wheel bearings, both of which were big expensive jobs that fortunately should last for decades. Receipts included. Brakes were gone through on all 4 corners and thoroughly bled. Rears were adjusted. Pedal is tall and tight.
WHEELS & TIRES:Four brand new radial tires with 100% tread (100 miles) mounted on nice rare Cragar SS chrome rims. I realize Cragar rims are an unusual choice for such a vehicle but they were on there so I left them alone. The vehicle does have 1 inch billet aluminum wheel spacers with grade 10 steel studs mounted with red Locktite on all 4 corners to give a slightly wider stance. The small Cragar center cap on the right rear wheel is missing.FRAME & BODY:
Original rust free AZ vehicle has never been wrecked with no rust or filler anywhere. It still sports the original 31 year old paint which is evenly faded. It does have some minor body damage shown in pictures, the most noticeable being the ding in the left rear corner by the tail light. There is a 6 inch heat crack on the black plastic of the rear bumper near the center that's hard to notice unless you get right up on it. There are a couple tiny chips in the windshield away from the driver's vision but much smaller than a typical stone ship and they are of the type not likely to get any bigger.
INSURANCE:This rig is eligible for historic plates in any State. That also mean it's eligible for Collector Car insurance from outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty which costs only $10 per month for a $5,000 full coverage policy. That's right, a full coverage policy is only $10 per month and emissions are forever waived. I repeat. Collector Car Insurance means no more emissions and a cheap monthly nut on full coverage insurance.
OH WHAT A FEELING:
There's several reasons that these Toyotas are so legendary worldwide. It's no accident that no matter what part of the world you look at whenever you see news footage of a guerrilla fighter soldier with an AK47 in the back of a pickup it's always a Toyota. That's because Toyota truck reliability is 2nd to none. It's what soldiers count on. That's why Toyota is the only import vehicle ever allowed to compete in NASCAR racing.
I wouldn't hesitate to jump in this rig and drive it coast to coast confident it would need nothing but fuel.
PAPERWORK:
Clean and clear notarized AZ title is ready to go.
INVESTMENT:This is an old car but a good car. It's not perfect, showing some age, but is reliable and mechanically sound. Toyota 4x4's only go up in value even while you drive them, providing one of the best investments in the automotive world today. Fact is there will never be another made like them. They are 1 off legends. That's why a low miles 1985 version of this same car just sold for $14,900.
CONTACT:Email through eBay or Call 52O-Nine 77-O112 for any questions prior to clicking.
FEEDBACK:For those new to eBay and nervous about buying a vehicle over the internet just remember that, as I mentioned from the outset, I've been selling classic early Broncos and antique Toyota trucks and vintage parts on eBay for 17 years. Some 15 years ago I happen to sell a truck to an eBay seller who runs a large scale pawn shop in Philadelphia with over 100,000 feedbacks and he taught me this eBay rule of thumb. Every positive feedback is worth about a dollar of trust. That means if you're buying something for $500 then ideally the seller will have at least 500 positive feedbacks. This is just an ideal rule of thumb mind you. So if somebody's selling a $5,000 vehicle with only 32 positive feedbacks I'd be leery. Doesn't mean it's not legit, it's just that there's not much track record. By contrast if a seller's asking $5k for a vehicle and has more than 12k positive feedbacks like myself, well then you can rest easier for you can ask yourself why would they risk throwing away their decades old hard earned feedback reputation for only $5k? The answer is they wouldn't.
I've recently sold 2 other vintage Toyota 4x4's.
Buyerroscoe208just left feedback for a truck bought last month,an Almond colored 1985 Toyota Hilux 4x4 for $7,950. Here's the link which you can copy & paste into your browser's URL line:

The next example was sold 2 weeks ago to buyerohernrf91who also just left feedback.

It was a 1987 4Runner for $6500 which can be seen here:

SHIPPING:All shipping arrangements and fees are the responsibility of the buyer. We will help whenever & wherever possible but only to a limited degree. This vehicle is in zip code 85705 very near Interstate 10. Figure shipping any vehicle East of the Mississippi is about $900. West is considerably less. We will store the truck free for 21 days after sale. There is a $15 per day storage fee thereafter unless an agreement between buyer and seller has been pre-dickered. I have several phone numbers from recent truck sales of competent shippers that I can provide but a simple Google search under "Auto Transport" should provide a dozen options. For example, 120 miles from me is the Barrett-Jackson Auction which promotes the Reliable Transport shipping company. I'm sure they're expensive but you can always start with them and go from there to shop out your best deal. Some shipper numbers my customers have recently used without any reported problems:(954)-320-6677;(843) 793-0270;(828) 302-9742.You can also trywww.uship.com.
Note that many buyers assume they will save money by flying in to Tucson and driving the vehicle home. It rarely works out that way. It costs a small fortune to fly into Tucson on short notice. Never mind the airfare, your time (which is money) and the gasoline -- the cross country journey is also fraught with other unforeseen perils. You won't have valid plates. You'll need to buy insurance. 4 years ago a guy from Texas bought an original pristine 1986 Turbo Toyota 4x4 from me with only 120k original miles for almost $9k and flew into Tucson with his brother to pick it up. 800 miles later into his 1000 mile trip home a 1 inch diameter pigtail $7 coolant bypass hose burst as he was sailing along at 90 mph, tunes blasting, not paying attention while BSing with his brother. Next thing you know he got it so hot he had to pay to tow it 200 miles home. My advice is to let the insured professionals bring your new Toy cross country.
