1978 Toyota Land Cruiser Description:
1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. Excellent condition, well maintained. Very difficult to find one in this condition. Odometer reads 97,430. I have owned this FJ40 for 2 years and put only approx. 2000 miles on it. It has been garaged the entire time, never driven hard or off-road, well pampered. Basically, it's been a weekend toy for me and my kids to commute around the suburbs in. Has been a dependable driver for me, the most significant issue I have had was a small coolant leak from the thermostat housing seal that I repaired by replacing the housing and gaskets with new ones. No mechanical issues. Stock 2F engine.Previous owner had it professionally restored and repainted. Details he provided:
+Original color was Sky Blue, it's now Freeborn Red
+Installed new gas tank
+Rebuilt transfer case
+Engine was rebuilt
+Transmission was rebuilt
+Weber carb installed
+Aluminum tub installed (with storage)
+Power steering installed
Maintenance and minor cosmetic upgrades done since I have owned it (in the last 2000 mi):
+Thermostat and housing replaced
+Radiator fan replaced and shroud installed
+Radiator cap, hoses and clamps replaced
+Fuel lines and fuel check valve replaced

+OEM side mirrors replaced
+Exterior door handles replaced
+Distributor cap, rotor replaced, Denso plugs, wires installed
+Headlight covers replaced
+Alternator and PS belts replaced
+Driver seat extension installed (gives a tad more leg room)
+Replaced all fluids with high quality Brad Penn or Toyota
Known issues:
+Starter grinds a bit but works fine
+A few small rust bubbles under the paint (see photos)
+Passenger side window crank stem is stripped (replacement part included in sale)
+Parking brake light in the interior stays illuminated when brake is released (loose electrical connection, the brake itself is fine)
+Tear in driver's seat
+Repaired spot on dash pad
+Front left leaf spring shackle has one stripped thread with a missing bolt (has been this way for 2 years without any issue)
