1970 Toyota Land Cruiser Description:
This is my daily driver FJ55. I bought this about a year ago. I drive it most everyday. Most of these FJ55 rust out, but this one is in good condition due to an earlier restoration during the late 90's. The previous owner repainted the lower section orange from it's stock tan color and I believe they did some filler in the rockers and fenders. There is some damage to the drivers side fender where the metal is wrinkled, but things were painted over so there is no rust present. They also put in a painless wiring kit so everything is fresh and labeled. The stock inline 6 engine was rebuilt at that same time at 79,936 and the FJ55 now has 81,439 on the odometer. It was just a solid runner when I bought it and I've kept it just the way it was other than minor things. It runs great and drives great. It has a 3 speed trans and shifts easily and smoothly. I got the rear power window working, installed a new license plate light, put new gaskets in the rear cargo windows and the front windshield (although the windshield is now cracked due to a spreading rock chip). I'm trying to get a replacement before the auction is up. I have resealed the drip rail gutter with seam sealer and repainted the roof. I have installed a new headliner and rear cargo mat and repainted the rear cargo area and inside tailgate. All the lights and signals work, and this is a really fun FJ55 to drive. There isa a small amount of rust in the drivers side and passenger side floor boards, but it's repairable. The rest of the truck sheetmetal is in really good condition and the frame rails look great as well. You can tell that the truck has stayed dry over the years. Again it is in way better condition than most FJ55s I see. It will need a new exhaust system soon as someone installed a shorter system that is rusted out (still drivable though). I really don't want to get rid of it, but I'm looking to thin out the number of land cruisers I have. I drive it everyday so come take it for a test drive.
