This is a wonderfully original and well-preserved example of one of the most interesting and different automobiles ever produced in the U.S., the supercharged Studebaker Golden Hawk. The model, based on the streamlined President Speedster 2-door hardtop, had been introduced in 1956 with power from Packard's big, heavy 352 cubic inch V8. Studebaker got smart for 1957, replacing the Packard with a 289 cubic inch version of Studebaker's own V8 and punching up its performance to 275 horsepower with a...belt driven McCulloch centrifugal supercharger, the same basic engine setup that would go on to be so successful and set speed records in the Avanti.
