1988 Saab 900 Description:

Up for sale is a very nice example of the Saab 900 Classic. 5 speed, 1.8L turbocharged engine. Two door hatchback, with fold down rear seats. This vehicle was assembled in Sweden in 1988. It was previously owned by a Saab service manager, and was carriage house kept in Long Island. She runs great; the engine is strong, she shifts very smoothly and the steering and suspension are sound. She has been very well cared for, and will easily make an amazing, head turning, daily driver for someone who wants to do the little things to get her there. The frame is in great shape, the engine is very sound, the transmission is strong, and the suspension and CV's are in great shape. The headliner is perfect as the previous owner had it professionally done a few years back. The seats are in great shape - no tears or cracks, but the leather could use some love to get it supple again. Also comes with the original Clarion cassette deck/tuner and equalizer.
I installed a redtop APC from Swedish Dynamics and new injectors. I have the receipts for these, as well as the original APC and injectors for the new owner. I have always also driven her gently; no racing off the light or anything like that, but of course one has to let her turbo spool up on the highway a little bit. Also, I just replaced the distributor cap, battery and high pressure fuel pump. Firestone tires have 6-7k miles on them and are basically new.
Some of the things that one ought to address are below:The power sunroof slides and seals fine by hand, and the motor runs fine, but the gear came off the drive motorExhaust has a small leakAdjust rear hatchback release cableBack seat and trunk floor pans could use some new sheet metal.Power windows need to be cleaned before trying to raise them up or down.Some rust spots on the body (see photos) near the driver side 'Turbo' emblem, small spot on the hood, and on the panel driver side rear seat lower quarter panel. The spots are small, easy for an individual or body shop to fix, probably without repainting the whole car. The paint is original and in great shape for 29 year old paint!
