1978 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Description:

Up for auction listed with NO RESERVE we have a 1978 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Considered a limited-edition Rolls Royce luxury car as they were only produced from 1977-1980. This is one of only 8,425 ever made, and of that number many have become parts cars or rust buckets over the years. This Rolls Royce being offered today is a great example of a rare survivor. A rust-free California car that has been with the current owner for the last decade. This Silver Shadow has been well maintained and regularly serviced, and the sale of this car comes with a clear CA title and all the service records that have been accumulated over the past 10 years by its current owner.

The exterior is very good looking having been repainted in its original color Rolls Royce Exeter blue. The body of the car is in great condition; the body is straight, accident free, and rust free. The chrome trim is complete and in decent shape throughout. The front and rear bumpers are intact, and the front grille with the notorious Flying Lady are undamaged and excellent. All glass is clear without cracks or scratches, and all headlight and sidelight assemblies are complete and in good condition. This Silver Shadow has 4 good tires that are complete with their original “RR” crested hub caps.

The interior is blue in color. The upholstered seats are original and in a tired state. This is the one area of the car that would need some attention. The seats are torn and the carpeting throughout is in pretty rough shape. The door panels are decent but the armrests are also cracking and showing their age. However, the wood panel pieces throughout the interior are in really nice condition and this wood certainly won’t need to be refinished which can be very pricey. The headliner and sun visors are original and in excellent condition as well. The trunk space is complete with battery box, original jack stand, tommy bar, and spare tire.

The dash is complete with all original gauges though currently the temperature gauge is not working. The interior lights work and the power windows work as well. The push horn, headlights, indicators, tail lights and brake lights all function properly. The automatic door locks and the Pioneer radio currently do not. The AC fans work, but I believe the system is in need of recharging to blow cold.

This Silver Shadow runs and drives very nicely. The transmission feels good, the V8 engine feels strong and is without any alarming noises or knocking. The brakes hold well and steering is light and responsive as only a Rolls Royce can be.

This is truly an enjoyable car to drive and it’s no wonder why Rolls Royce have maintained their reputation for being one of the most luxurious cars ever made. With some new carpeting and maybe some new sheep skin seat covers this Rolls Royce would certainly show well and make you feel as though your living in the lap of luxury.
