This superb 1975 Porsche 914 is finished in Diamond Silver Metallic and powered by its numbers-matching 2.0L flat-four. The car was sold new in July 1975 by University Porsche Audi in Seattle, Washington. Original purchase document shows a price of $8,413, which included an Audiovox AM/FM/8-track stereo, center armrest, Ansa exhaust, front spoiler, rear Porsche reflector, Porsche black side stripes, Porsche leather shift knob, Riviera mag wheels, Porsche front emblem, and more. This example remained with the original owner until his death in 2013 (~38 years!), when it was sold to a longtime neighbor who first saw it at the age of eight in 1975.This second owner (Mr. KD) spent about $3k on recommissioning work by ProVolks of Anacortes, Washington and sold the car after nine months to the third owner. The third owner (Mr. BH) titled the car in Oregon and performed work including$4500 for repaint (engine in), $5000 for various detailing work, and $837 for other service. The fourth owner (Mr. BL) acquired the car at auction in 2014 and drove it less than 150 miles. Seller (Mr. BH2) is the fifth owner and acquired the car at auction in September 2017. Current owner has had seals, brake hoses, and throttle cable replaced along with routine service. This 914 is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (CoA), original purchase documents, warranty book, manual, tools, many service records, a deluxe vinyl nose bra, license plate frame of original selling dealer, new (not yet installed) sun visors, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.

A February 2015 repaint in the original color was done to address accumulated blemishes. Prep included some disassembly, though the engine was left in place. The car was then professionally detailed, with expenses for all work reportedly totaling $9,500 as noted by hand on an unrelated receipt. This beautiful 914 is offered with its original sale 15″ Riviera mag wheels (see original purchase receipt), wearing 165 width radial tires, and a non-matching spare wheel is found in the front trunk. These wheels were popular options due to their resemblance to the five-lug Fuchs of the 914-6 cars. The tires all wear excellent tread, near new in depth, but appear to bear 2001 date codes. The seller also possesses five period-correct, four-lug, aluminum Fuchs wheels all in great condition which he plans to auction separately but would be happy to negotiate a very favorable price with an interested buyer. Those wheels also wear tires with near new tread but 2010 date codes. The body tag on the hinge side of the driver’s door opening shows Karosserie Nr.(chassis #) 5049047 and confirms Diamond Silver Metallic (L97A) as the original color. This 914 is thought to been garage-kept from new, and has been garage-kept by the seller. The Black leatherette interior (50) shows exceptionally well and has been beautifully detailed. Interior carpet is tasteful salt-and-pepper in fantastic condition which brightens the mood. Glass is good all around, and the windows and rear defogger operate correctly. Windshield is Pilkington and all other glass is Delodur-1 (Sekurit). The 5-digit odometer registers 30,966 miles, which the registration and available service history supports to be accurate. The car comes with new sun visors and the originals. The seller notes the original AM/FM/8-track Audiovox radio, and speakers, work well, but the 8-Track player is untested. The Targa top is in excellent condition and fits well: removal and placement are by 4 latches at the corners and is easily performed in under a minute. The top stores suspended in clips in the rear trunk when driving.

Service receipts and records help document the history and include the following:

  • 27 miles (1975) first Washington registration.

The Porsche CoA was obtained by the third owner in 2013,confirming original colors/engine number. It also shows this 914 was delivered with optional heated rear window and seat cushions. A decode of VIN 4752907019 provides these build details:

  • 47– 914/4
  • 5– 1975 model year, built December 1974
  • 29– Body built by Karmann in Osnabruck
  • 07019– Serial production number

StampingGC001942matchesthe Porsche CoA, confirming the engine is original. This number also falls in the correct range to be one of 2,914 “GC” prefix 2.0-liter US-spec engines produced for 1975. This unit was rated at 90 hp when new and is paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car pulls exceptionally strong and with unsurpassed weight distribution is unbelievably poised- an absolute delight to drive! Independent strut suspension and discs all around made this car a phenom then and now! A group of gallery images are provided to show overall condition, paint condition, clean underbody condition. One 4mm paint blemish ishighlighted from the rear passenger quarter panel. This video shows >200 photos:https://youtu.be/LMbyEoUQvfM

includes several segments starting with a walk around while idling, then with engine compartment, boot, and trunk views, and a cold-start after two weeks (followed by several other starts). Several driving segments are then shown portraying multiple shift sequences including downshifting. More walkarounds are also shown with engine running. All driving sequences are with top off, so some moderate wind noise, except the very last driving segment which is Targa top back on. Video was captured holding the phone by mouth, so cinematography is not perfect!
