1991 Porsche 911 Description:

1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 2

Background:

1991 911/964 Carrera 2, 5 speed manual transmission with 133k miles. Color is Tahoe Blue Metallic with tan leather interior.
Purchased the vehicle on May of 2014. Previous owner is a gentlmen who own a mechanic/body shop in the Los Anegeles area. And he told me he has purchased the vehicle from a Porsche sales person back in 2006.

Carfax was ordered when I purchased the vehicle. The report showed that the car has a clean title with no accident or any loss reported. And since the vehicle has remained in the west coast throughout its life, the car has absolutely no rust at all.

Previous owner repainted the vehicle to its original Tahoe blue metallic color in his own body shop. The car runs good but the previous owner didn't have any maintenance record. As a long time Porsche enthusiast, I purchased the vehicle to spend time with it and intended as a weekend fun car. Since I love to work on cars/motorcycles, I've decided to go over all the obvious and not so obvious issues in the car.

Works performed on the vehicle:

1. SACHS clutch kit and flywheel replaced
2. All soft and hard oil hose/line were replaced because they were leaking from multiple places
3. Gaskets, O-rings, front/rear main seals replaced
4. Air, oil, fuel filters were replaced
5. Spark plugs and OEM Beru spark plugs wire set replaced and valve adjustment performed
6. Rennline billet valve covers replaced the leaky magnesium covers.
7. Oil cooler sensor, oil cooler switch, engine oil temp sensor replaced
8. Dual Distributor rebuilt with caps, arms, belts replaced and vent kit installed
9. 993 engine mounts installed
10. Ignition coils and Ignition switch unit replaced
10. Power steering rack replaced
11. New Continental Extreme Contact tires all around
12. Wheels restored with colored Porsche crest
13. Momo Mod07 Suede steering wheel/hub (original airbag wheel included), new leather shift knob/boot
14. ISV (idle stablizer valve), AFM (airflow meter) replaced with rebuilt units.
15. New Bosch O2 sensor, Hall sensor, knock sensor installed
16. Engine ECU was sent to specialist for testing/service

Did and installed a bunch of other cosmetic, suspension stabilizer, steering/wheel alignment, wheels spacers, wiper, fuse/relays, brake, light, battery, gauges works to the car.
Spent around $8500 in parts, and did pretty much all the works myself. About 450 miles was put on since I own the vehicle. And I have driven the car for about a 100 miles since all the works are done .

Condition of the vehicle:

For a 28 years old car, its in great overall shape. The motor pulls strong and fast, the aircooled engine sounds mesmerizing, the steering is weighty with excellent feedback. The Bilstein suspension handling is amazing but also very comfortable. All the electric works (motorized rear spoiler, radio, sunroof, lights, windows, door lock, gauages, etc.). However, the car is not perfect and I am not trying to mislead anyone to think the vehicle is a restored show car.

The paint/body looks amazing from 1 feet away, up close there are couple of door dings and some scratches/imperfection.
A/C works but air is not that cold/great.
Sunroof seal needs to be replaced.
Horn not working.
Motor still leaks a little oil. Since I am not a Porsche trained mechanic, I only gathered the information from internet forums, Wayne Dempsey and Adrian Streather’s 911 book to help me located and replaced the various oil seal, o-rings, oil lines. I am sure I have missed 1 or 2 of them. Since its a rather common issue with aircooled 911, it doesn’t bother me enough to pay a specialist to “reseal” the motor.

Two master keys, two valet keys, extra fluids, valve/cam tools, original steering wheel, engine jack adaptor, original magnesium valve cover, receipts as shown in the photo will be included.
The car is currently registered in the state of California under my name, and I have the title of ownership on hand.

Reason for Selling:
Need the garage space for a incoming electric car and its quick charger
