1969 Porsche 912 Description:

Beautiful1969 Porsche 912.I am the second owner of 17 years of this classic daily driver. Original California car with the black plates. While a beautiful car (see pics!) It is not a "perfect" show car, but it is a head-turner, and a car you can get out and rip around with every day if you so desire. Value of a car like this is all in the details, and I can provide pretty in-depth details about condition, history, Etc. to any interested parties. Lot more pictures available upon request.

Body. Almost perfect with very, very little rust damage. Almost no door dings, one unfortunate ding & ripple in the hood, one pea sized rust bubble on one fender. During a repaint in 2004, there was a rust hole in one door and one light bucket, which were repaired during a restoration quality paint job. Since then, there has been some unseen rust activity under the bonnet weather stripping and inside of one door. These have been ground out, primered and are not active or visible without trying really, really hard. All body, including the pans, are original and to my knowledge rust free. Weld slag from the door repair was unfortunately not cleaned up properly and is visible through the door jam.

Paint. The car looks great, but has had some paint failure which is in the pictures. Paint adhesion on the bonnet and very small blisters on the roof & bonnet. These happened the first winter the car was in Utah and have not propagated. I can only assume the low VoC paint used in CA didn't like the cold? Weird & unfortunate, but that is what it is. Door & bonnet chips from 15 years of use. This was a full window/headliner/trim out paint job, and does not have the serious misfortune of parts being painted that should not have, heavy Bondo, poor prep, Etc. I have had a quote to repaint the bonnet at $600, which would address 90% of the paint issues on the car.

Interior. Quite original other than seats. They were from a same era 911, reupholstered in similar but incorrect fabric, and have split. Recline mechanism is in need of repair as well. Would be nice to have redone or replaced. Dash is cracked - fairly common for these cars unfortunately. The rest is pretty original (headliner replaced when the car was painted) and shows signs of use. Carpet & aftermarket sun visors new last year.

Mechanical. I purchased the car in 2001 with a damaged engine. Rebuild was done with a '68 donor. The original 3rd piece was used in the rebuild and does "match," but this really isn't the case and the car is not being sold as such. In any case, the engine & transmission have roughly 40K on them, run excellent with no known problems. A $1800 tune up & general going through was done last month by Morris Brothers Motors in SLC.Engine has the aftermarket big bore kit, Webers and new distributor. Would benefit from an electric fuel pump for hot starts. I have one included (not installed) in the sale. Heaters are not connected, windshield washer is missing the pump, courtesy lights, clock and sometimes the radio are currently not functioning, though I know of no issues other than spending a bit of time to repair/hook back up. New speedometer cable and sender is skipping -not sure why.

Brakes, suspension, Misc. Brakes have been maintained and I know of no issues other than some squealing from the rear after the car has been sitting. Brake lines are probably original. Shocks last replaced in 2005 and seem fine. New (wrong size) battery, near new Bridgestone Potenza tires. Their are miscellaneous missing trim pieces here & there. If it is not pictured, please ask as I may have them.

Thanks & good luck bidding!
