This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera is equipped with upgraded power from the turbocharged Porsche playbook and retains its 2-wheel-drive configuration for the Porsche purist who demands maximum performance but prefers the more traditional 993 narrow body over the wide-body version. What left Stuttgart as one of the last air-cooled 911 coupes was transformed into a one-of-a-kind twin-turbocharged special that was featured in issue 145 of “Porsche Excellence” magazine in an article entitled “Sleeper 993.” The Arizona-based Porsche still wears its original Guards Red paint, but it now boasts a 550-plus HP turbo powertrain that sends its power to the rear wheels. The 3.6L engine was rebuilt with high-performance internals—from forged connecting rods and pistons to worked cylinder heads—to take full advantage of additional atmospheres provided by not one, but two Garrett ball-bearing turbochargers with new seals for leak-free operation; a new starter was additionally installed fewer than 100 miles ago. A potential 550 HP is channeled down to the ground through a Porsche RS race-spec clutch and flywheel for boosted engagements between the engine and 6-speed transmission. Bilstein coilover dampers and Porsche-Brembo disc brakes on all four BBS three-piece wheels help plant the Bridgestone Potenza S-02 UHP-compound tires for road control. Factory air conditioning maintains optimal driving conditions in the tan and black leather cabin that is loaded with optional factory power equipment and an 8,000-watt audio system for supplemental entertainment when the turbocharged soundtrack is not enough. Installed out of sight is a K40 Electronics radar laser detector-jammer system, concealed in case of accidental excessive velocity. The performance-modified twin-turbo Porsche 993 C2 carries a clean CarFax and comes with its original factory-issue tool set, books and manuals, along with matched touch-up paint in a rosewood storage box.
