1970 Pontiac GTO Description:

If you’re a Pontiac Geek then this is the car for you!

This is a great example of a very desirable car. Less than 2000 total 455 HO auto hardtops in 1970 were built. It is rust free and all original. The engine (360hp YA L75, trans and rear end are the original, born with pieces. It is also a highly optioned car with black cordova top, AC, power disc brakes, power steering, hood mount tach, console mounted 8 track player, rally steering wheel, rally gauge pack, tinted glass and 3:07 safe-t-track 12 bolt rear end (with boxed lower control arms) and front and rear sway bars.Almost a half a page of options per the PHS docs! The engine was rebuilt with a .030 overbore and has less than 10k miles on it since. It runs like a 455 HO should and will leave 2 long black marks if you stomp it at idle. It has new front springs and all new bushings in the front suspension. I also removed, rebuilt and restored the orig carb and it still has its orig distributor. It was sold new in Antioch, CA and dlvrd right before new yrs eve ’69. The suggested retail price was $3267 but after all the options it was $4233.53! Almost a 30% increase and a lot of $ in 1969. Its Verduro green with matching green interior. The orig door panels were toast and I had some real nice black ones so I installed them. If I don’t sell the car I will finish it and go with all black interior. Obviously the buyer can go with any color they choose. The original paint was cracked and peeling so I striped the car down to bare metal and deep cleaned all the panels with a PPG metal cleaner and conditioner and then sprayed it with 2 coats of DP 90- black epoxy primer. See last few pix for what the bare metal looked like. There is a short crease in drivers door as u can see in the pix but no rust whatsoever. I had the whole front clip off at one point and cleaned out the bottoms of the fenders where they trap dirt between fenders and lower cowl. The lower (and upper) cowls are also rust free. The rest of the car is pretty straight. The floors and trunk are rust free. I cleaned and sprayed both with 2 coats of epoxy primer. The trunk was repainted in the correct black and turquoise spatter paint finish. I power washed the entire underside on a lift multiple times, sprayed the frame and all suspension with a rust preventative chemical and then sprayed everything with 2 coats of dp 90 black epoxy primer. The underside is ready for another 100,000 miles. The gas tank and sending unit is new and all the brakes have been gone thru. The exhaust system ain’t pretty but not rusted out either. The rally wheels (still with the orig lug nutz with black centers!) and trim rings are original and the tires have plenty of meat left. I have all the chrome trim, acc compressor, brackets and lines, original air cleaner, grills, ect, ect. I don’t think there is a single part/piece of the car that I don’t have. Some previous owner thought it would be a good idea to chrome the rear valance, air cleaner, pulleys and alt bracket and the chrome has seen better days. The car runs and drives great. Pontiac only built 1986 455 HO auto hardtops in 1970 and there cant be many left rust free and still with orig drivetrain. Don’t let this be the car you wish you had bought when you had the chance.
