1989 Pontiac Firebird Description:

You are looking at my 1989 Formula 350. This really is a neat car as its optioned. It has 107k miles, factory T Tops (not available on prior year 3rd gen Formulas), WS6 suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, Borg Warner “Austrailan 9 bolt” rear end, dual catalytic converters, aluminum inflatable spare tire, etc. All the cool stuff you want, and only found on the high performance models. Most of the normal maintenance stuff over the years has been done, and there are receipts for everything. Stack of docs is thick. I bought it from the family that had it for the last 20 years.

Engine/Transmission/Driveability: the car runs real nice, and does not have any creaks or rattles. Much smoother than most of the 3rd gens I have had. When cold, the idle does fluctuate, but settles down after about 2 minutes. I was told that the MAF counts are a touch high which is causing this. I have not replaced it, but I do have a lifetime warranty receipt for it. Starts up good, and shifts and drives smooth as it should. No check engine light.

Body/Paint/Underneath:The paint on the car for the most part I would call driver quality. Its black, so it does show some minor scratches. Only bad stuff on the paint is really the driver door, where the clear is peeling above the belt line. There is a tiny bit (about 1” wide) at the top of the passenger door with some minor clear peeling also. Its not easy to see in the pics, but wanted to clarify. The quarter panels still have their original lip, and have not been rusty. Some paint chipping on the front bumper also. Hood was replaced (GM hood not aftermarket) due to a minor issue where someone hit it in a parking lot.

Interior:Seats and carpet are in excellent shape. No tears or rips or smells. All of the gauges work, and there is an aftermarket stereo in it, with subs in the back. Custom made 3rd gen box for it.

What is new/what has been done to it: In the last year, we have done a ton of work to this car:

-New radiator (and new coolant of course)

-New starter

-Oil Change

-Fuel Pump, filter, tank, sender, fuel pressure reguator

-Exhaust from cat back (Walker)

-Hood struts

-Air filter

-Horn switch, ignition cylinder

-Cap and rotor

What it needs / what I would do if I kept it: I would recommend an alignment. It doesn’t really pull, but the steering wheel is off center a bit. It also needs headlight motors. Headlights do work, but they are up. I would probably paint the drivers door also, as the factory clear is peeling on it. Other than that, I think its good to go.

In general, It’s a really solid car that is pretty much ready to go and cruise. It’s a real head turner, runs real good, and has all of the coolest options that were available. I have 100% positive feedback over 16 years, so buy with confidence. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Vehicle is located at my house in Medina, Oh (20 minutes from Cleveland airport). It is available for inspection to a serious buyer. Clean, clear Ohio title in my name. I have a Carfax report I have run that I can forward.
