1977 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition Description:

This 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition with Gold Dash and Steering Wheel
Let me start by saying: May Burt Reynolds rest in Peace, and I thank him for taking the role of The Bandit and getting me excited about owning a 1977 Trans Am.
This has been my third 1977 Trans Am with Hurst T-tops that I have bought, my first being when I was only 15....My brother knew a guy that had to sell it due to DWI's and the second I may be selling as well due to no time to restore it. I have done a lot of research on Trans Ams' and learned a lot about the "Bandit Trans Ams" So, if you are in the market for the car that Burt Reynolds drove in the Original Smokey and the Bandit, then let me tell you a few things! The actual car(s) yes more the 4 (Wikipedia) were used to crash, was actually a 1976 Trans Am SE with a 1977 front clip. The original was an automatic transmission, and the T-tops were Hurst which were discontinued in mid 1978. So, when you are looking for that "Bandit Trans Am" I hope you do just a little bit of research and buy wisely.
This 1977 Pontiac Trans Am SE has had some extensive work done from top to bottom ! I have over 250 pictures of the process that took it from an average car in picture #2 to the Immaculate artwork of a machine in Picture #1. They started with tearing the complete car down piece by piece.....sanding, grinding, welding, priming and painting EVERY PART ! The original Pontiac 400 was trash, so a 350 Fuel Injected LT1 was taken out of a 90's Caprice Police Cruiser, a significant amount more horsepower than the original. With such a extensive project, you better believe that all the Firebird problem rust areas were given special attention ! The wells of the windshield FIXED, Rear Quarter Panels fixed inside and out, Floor Boards replaced with new metal pans, Even those doors that feel like they weigh a ton....edge welded and ground down to a smooth matching body line ! Even the Frame did not miss any attention to detail when it came to repairs ! A Hotchkiss 3" drop suspension kit was installed with new Coil Springs, Leaf Springs and Sway Bars front and back. After priming the interior from firewall to trunk, sound damping material was used to help keep the noise outside and the tunes inside.
Some of the features on this car that some Trans Am Special Editions don't have are as follows, a Dual Gate shifter...yes, before the craze for "manual mode" in today's modern cars, they made a factory( well Hurst aftermarket) side shift for shifting gears. Another feature that it has, a center console in the back seat..not that plain carpeted hump in most Firebirds. Of course that Iconic Gold Prism Dash and Steering Wheel that screams louder than the "screaming chicken" on the hood with class and exclusivity to Special Editions. I finished off the show quality trunk with a deflated spare tire and refurbished air cylinder along with an aftermarket T-top bag. And Finally ! ! ! the coolest option Hurst T-tops, nothing says open air inside a car without the backflow air of a convertible like a set of T-tops! Burt Reynolds would have never fit his iconic Bandit cowboy hat inside a Hardtop.
As you can see that I have a starting price at $50,000...before you snicker with a "Yeah Right !" Feel free to take a look at the current NADA and KBB Classic Car price guide.....YES ! Average Retail $56,550 (NADA in Rogers, AR) High Retail $89,830.
I will do my best to answer as many questions and/or requests that I can, but I ask that you don't waste my time because I will not waste yours with Lies or Misrepresentation. Sorry, I will not accept trades or wait for you to sell your vehicle.....By the way, you would be surprised to find how many classic car lenders that there are. The Stock Market is great if you like to watch numbers and graphs, but imagine driving almost anywhere and people turning heads. Now that is my kind of retirement !
Good Luck, and may the best bidder enjoy this Classic !
Revisions Made: I have corrected my statement that Hurst T-tops have been discontinued in 1977, it was mid 1978. Questions asked: 1. Do I have the original shifter...No, unfortunately I do not. 2. Do I have the center of the front spoiler..No, I do not.
