1969 Pontiac Firebird Description:

1969 Firebird 350/400 - 350ci engine. 3 speed automatic transmission - This car is a powerful, fun and a smooth drive. Off White Color and Black Interior. Engine number matches the car.
I worked professionally as a mechanic and did bodywork in the 80's. I chose this car as a keeper because of how solid it was. However, life circumstances have changed and now I have to sell it. I have put a lot of work into it with TLC and hope it goes to someone who really enjoys it.
I was going to convert it into a Firebird 400. All of the body parts necessary for that were purchased in advance and come with it. They can be seen in the photos. I have over $14,000 invested, not counting the meticulous labor put into it.
MECHANICALLY-
It has a rebuilt 4bbl Rochester Quadrajet and cast iron Pontiac 4bbl intake manifold. Duel exhaust. The timing chain is new. The water pump, radiator and heater core are new. So are all of the hoses and belts.
INTERIOR-
The seats have been nicely restored. TMI Sport Seat Upholstery was used for the front and rear, with bolstering on the front buckets.
When the carpet was replaced Dynamat was also installed, along with high quality padding. I saw the floor bare and it was perfectly solid with zero rust. Dynamat was also installed under the headliner. All this offers much better insulation and sound deadening.
The Dash is new, so are the Kick Panels, Visors, Package Shelf, Rearview Mirror and Blinker Switch.
All windows roll up and down nicely.
Front and Rear Speakers are new and installed. The 2 Rears are German MAXXSONICS DCF 116 SP. The front is from Classic Industries and is a 100 Watt Dual Center Dash Speaker.
New speaker wires were installed before the carpet was put in, you can see them (copper color) hanging under the dash in the photos. I hadn’t gotten around to choosing a stereo for it yet.
Seat belts also cross over the chest.
BODY-
The car was originally light green. It was painted over with a with a light layer of off-white, seemingly some time ago. You can see a little rust in the photos on the roof. It's just light surface rust and can be easily taken care of.
The body is solid and was going to be done next, so the chrome has been removed from the windshield and rear window. The front window molding was in good shape, the rear had a couple of dings so there is a new set still in the package. I can put it back on for you if you like, or leave it off. It’s up to you?
There is no Bondo anywhere that I could find. The metal is very solid. Except for what I put on the passenger door and passenger front fender, for temporary appearances until I was ready to install the new ones before painting it.
TRUNK-
The trunk was perfectly solid and has been cleaned and painted with the proper Pontiac trunk paint from Classic Industries.
NEW PARTS NOT YET INSTALLED that come with it-
-Formula 400 Hood (Still in the box. I didn't want to unbox it alone and risk damaging it. I pasted the image from Classic Industries' site over the photo of the box.
-Passenger Door
-Passenger Fender
-Chrome Front Bumper
-All together in a photo: Rear Spoiler, Front Spoiler (bolts and brackets for both), Antenna, Passenger, Back Window Molding, Hood Insulation & Clips, Passenger side Headlight Bezel & Cushion, Formula 400 Hood Scoop Inserts (closed), Passenger Side Lower Rocker Panel Chrome Molding, Plaid Trunk Mat, Black Pillar Posts (the old ones are decent and are currently installed), Firebird Trunk Key Emblem and Wiper Blades.
There is a box of more new nick-nacks that aren't in the photos, all new locks and Firebird trunk key emblem. An old Chilton's Repair & Tune-Up Guide was in the trunk when I got the car and will come with it too.
All new parts were purchased from Classic Industries.
NEEDS-
-Tires, they hold air, but the sidewalls have some dry-rot and the treads are worn.
-The Shift Cable needs to be adjusted to better sync with the column. After you put it in park you need to hold the column behind the steering wheel and gently turn it a centimeter or two to unlock and remove the key.
Please keep in mind, the car is 19 years old and is being sold as is. I have no idea if the millage on the odometer is accurate or not. That being said, I’m going to miss this car. I really wanted to finish it and keep it forever, I hope it goes to a good place.
Please feel free to email any questions.
