Up for sale is a 1940 Plymouth coupe that has been in storage since the early 70’s. The car has never been hot rodded, stripped, or had parts pirated from it and it is in all original condition, with original flathead straight 6 motor, transmission, etc. Car is not currently running and hasn’t ran in a long time, but it’s all there making it the perfect candidate for an original restoration or hot rod conversion.

This car is an amazing barn-find survivor with all the original gauges, door panels, seats and upholstery still there, but it is 1940 upholstery so don’t expect it to be nice. The headliner upholstery has rotted away but all top bows and trim are in place and new replacement headliner material is available from several restoration places. This car also has the rare rear seat delete storage unit that has a place to store a spare tire and allows access to cargo in the trunk from inside the car. These units are rare because they were usually the first thing that somebody threw away to add a back seat or build a hot rod.

The car has a few small rust holes on the lower quarters and that’s about it for rot. Body is super straight with no major accident damage ever on the body. The paint appears to be original, but if it’s not, it was shot a long time ago and has awesome patina. The roof has a few dents due to junk being stacked on the car over the years but it’s all easily repairable. Bumpers are all there, and 95% of all body trim with only a couple grille pieces missing.

It is very difficult to find a pre-war coupe in this kind of condition, as most have rusted away, or been hacked up over the years. Due to the incredible shape of this car, you really have 3 options: You could get it running and driving and enjoy it as is, with its great patina. You could restore it to original condition... or you could go all out with a custom or hot rod build. Whichever way you want to go, this car is the perfect starting point.
