1968 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback Description:
1968 Plymouth Barracuda fastback Formula S, 383 4-speed.If you’re in the market for one that is factory correct, well maintained and never abused, you’ll be impressed with this one.I’ve owned it since October 2007, purchased it from Lee Smith of Totally Auto in Shawsville, Virginia.
Currently indicates 93,000 miles on the odometer.All wear and physical indicators lean toward this being the original mileage.Comes with the original glove box operator’s manual and CertiCard with the original owner’s name on it.Its number matching 383 engine and 4-speed transmission appear to never have been out of the car.Under the hood the only change from factory originality is the Chrysler electronic ignition conversion package. All of the fuel system is original and/or factory correct.The automatic choke and cold startup features work perfectly, fast idle, etc.The clutch is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly without any drive noise in any gear.Both engine and transmission have recently been serviced including oil changes.
Production stats for this model are 963 produced with approximately 550 with 4-speed transmissions.This one came equipped with the Formula S package; includes front disc brakes, sport wheel covers, red line tires, bucket seat deluxe interior, factory tachometer & AM radio (both work perfectly), dual exhaust and body side stripes.The correct 2 inch tall lug nuts are NOS replacements including the correct LH threaded nuts on the driver’s side.
The heater core and water pump was replaced earlier this year.The AM radio was also recently removed for cleaning and reconditioning, looks and works perfect.The dash speaker was also replaced with a factory correct replacement from Turn-Switch.The paint is nice as the pictures indicate.It is an older repaint and there are a couple of very small spots at the lower right rear wheel opening that are showing signs of lifting, but nothing that is critical or needing immediate attention.
