1985 Peugeot Other GL Description:

My wife and I bought this car at dealer from Peugeot rep at 6 months old in 1985, our first car when we married. It was a near daily driver from 1985 until 2009.

It had continuous dealer maintenance until they closed, and later through independent shops with parts from Madhu at Disortex.

Significant restoration in 2003-2005. Replaced original steel/plastic wheels with 1989 alloy wheels. I replaced the 3 speed transmission with a 4 speed to reduce the engine RPM at highway speeds. Was very simple and straightforward and the best thing I ever did for the XN6 GL. Rebuilt engine, replaced cracked dash and worn steering wheel, all rubbers, weatherstrip, subframe mounts, steering rack and dampers, yellowed headlight assemblies, etc. Odometer stopped working at somewhere in the 150,000 mile range. Replaced with new one, but precise mileage unknown.

While sitting in the garage not being driven and low fuel level, humidity rusted the inside of gas tank and since then needs cleaning of in-tank lift pump strainer periodically. Tires have dry rotted and don't all hold air now.

Headliner is good, Seats are faded a bit. Back seat backrests were reupholstered.

There is a nice Nakamichi deck in the dash and a CD changer in the trunk.
