1916 Other Makes Description:

Here is something very special and very unique. First time listed for sale. Our original unrestored 1916 Oldsmobile big 7 passenger V8 touring car. This car is large, tall and impressive with the rear folding jump seats. I just removed it from the family barn where it was stored for a long time. This was the first of the V8 Oldsmobile. The car is complete and in remarkable condition for over 100 years old and for being in storage for so long. The body is very good, so is the underbody. The car was kept dry. It has not been on the road in over 80 years. A true early barn find automobile. The wood spoke wheels are in fair to poor condition, some spokes cracked and broke when I moved the car. However, I do have a number of extra wood spokes to help restore the existing wheels. All the doors and hood open and shut tight. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Remember the unrestored 1911 Oldsmobile Limited that sold for over 1 million at Hershey in 2007? Yes, I know this is not an 11 Limited of course but it sure made me wonder at the time. If anyone would like to see more photos, please let me know.
As much as I would like to keep the Olds in the family, it's time to offer the car to a loving new home where the big girl can be restored and enjoyed the way it should be. It's not easy for me to sell the car, however, there is no point in it just sitting. I will never get around to restoring the car. Someone once told my uncle it could be a 1917 model but he always said it's a 1916.
The car originally came from upstate New York. At the time, New York did not issue titles, your registration was in fact your title. The car never had a title. This was common in many states. The last time the Oldsmobile was on the road was at least 80+ years ago. I will include an Official Notarized Bill of Sale of ownership if you like.
Please Note.. It takes time and cost money to run an auction so serious bidders please. My reserve is more than reasonable for a car like this. My feedback has always been 100% Positive since I signed up with Ebay well over 15 years ago which says alot. I tell it like it is. Although the car needs to be restored, it's rare as Hen's teeth, it's most likely the only unrestored Oldsmobile from this era left in it's original condition. Maybe if you made the car roadworthy and left it original, it could be a great HPOF Class AACA Antique. If anyone has any questions at all or, if you would like to see the car for yourself before you bid, just let me know. Thank you for your interest.
