1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 60 Description:

I bought this 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser in the Winter of 2009. I bought it from a man in Tennessee who had started a restoration and could not finish. It was originally a no rust CA vehicle. He had it in his garage in TN restoring it for 2 years. The vehicle originally had 110,000 miles on it. I bought the vehicle with no engine, a rebuilt 4L80E transmission in a crate, and the interior had mostly been taken out.
I shipped it to a restorer in Reno, NV who finished the full restoration in March 2011, after almost a year and a half of work. I spent another few years adding some modern upgrades and working out a few kinks. I don't drive the vehicle much, and with 4 cars, one has to go, so it is going to be this one that I drive the least. I have not even put 6,000 miles on it since the restoration has been completed. The vehicle is stored in a garage until it sells.

To come anywhere close to the level of finish on this vehicle, you would have to contract with one of the high end Land Cruiser restoration specialists. Depending on what you want done, it would cost you the purchase of the donor vehicle, waiting 12-18 months, and then spending anywhere from $35,000 (low level/basic restoration) to $75,000 to restore the vehicle depending on if you want a basic clean up or a higher level of restoration.
Or you could purchase a restored vehicle from a high end restorer, for anywhere from $35,000 (for a basic/restored vehicle with the original engine with many miles on it) to $80,000 (for more custom work), and up.One of the country's top Land Cruiser restorers says: "A top level restoration starts at $65,000. It ends where your imagination does."
You will find most of the Land Cruiser restorations out there are simply a very nice refresh of the original vehicle, many times retaining the original 6 cylinder engine with high mileage, and with no interior upgrades.
This Land Cruiser for sale is a one of a kind, fully restored, new mechanicals, interior, modern upgrades, paint and wheels. This vehicle has barely been driven. There is NOT A DISTRESSED SALE. I realize I am looking for a rare buyer who wants a customized and fully restored vintage SUV. But that does not mean I will take less than the vehicle is worth, and it does not mean I need to sell.
Custom, vintage, restored SUV's cost a lot to buy and restore. I will not be getting back anywhere near all my costs (over $80,000) that I have into the vehicle. And yes, I do realize you cannot get out anywhere near what you put into a restoration. For the buyer that wants a new, custom, professionally restored, one of a kind SUV, the reserve price is fair.
I have a 100% perfect feedback rating, I am a nonsmoker, and the vehicle is always garaged. I have the original wheels that came standard with the original vehicle. The buyer is welcome to all the wheels I have.
This vehicle can be a highway cruiser, it goes down the highway at 65 mph at low rpm. It can be a show truck. Or you can make it a rock crawler, anything you want it to be!
THINGS NEEDED TO FIX: the metal pedals are missing a few of the round rubber inserts, and I have a bag of replacements. The front bumper is a little bent, but I wanted to leave the original on, and its not that bad. The rear interior light by the floor is missing a plastic cover.
There are so many upgrades and options I may have missedsome. If you see something in a picture you have a question on, or have any other questions, please contact me. I have all receipts, and cleartitle. Pre-purchase inspection by buyer or mechanic is welcome.
