1980 Other Makes HMV Freeway Description:

Quick Description:
All original Restored 1981 HMV Freeway Convertible.
Designed by David Edmonson.
Three wheeled micro car manufactured in Burnsville Minnesota U.S.A. from 1979 to 1982.
Single seat and powered by a 16 HP gasoline engine.
The engine is mounted behind the driver's seat.
No reverse gear.
Standard fuel tank capacity of 3 US gallons.
About 700 Free-Ways were sold before the manufacturer closed in June 1982, But only a very few convertibles were made, it is a guess that under 3 of them were made so that makes this one extremely rare.
Some of the Story behind It:
Ok All I am selling my 1981 HMV Freeway, it is all original and was restored using exact parts, new old stock parts and restored existing original parts in order to keep it in its original manufactured state. This is a very rare micro car because although About 700 FreeWays were sold before the manufacturer closed in June 1982, only a very few convertibles were made, it is a guess that under 3 of them were made so that makes this one extremely rare and maybe the only one left in existence in its original state. I Purchased it from the original owner who parked it in 1990 and kept it garage stored its whole life this is one reason the paint color is in such great condition. All lights, Gauges, wiper, defroster, heater, radio etc. Work. It only has 1,900 original miles. After fully restoring and taking it on my first ride I decided it was not my cup of tea, even though everyone absolutely loves it including myself I am just too used to the ride of a modern car so this is the only reason I am letting it go. It could truly be a museum piece for its rarity. I have lots of paperwork on it including a copy of the original title from new and the current title in my name, original brochure from when purchased new, lots of notes taken throughout the restoration project, receipts of most all the parts and service purchased, a few different manuals service manuals etc., lots of saved online research, and pictures of the restoration project as it happened. I have the side panels of the convertible top but not the top center portion and as can be seen in the photos there is some paint chipping at the top edge of the door and rear hatch edge. I also have all original replaced parts and lots of spare new parts if ever needed in the future.

I am definitely open to reasonable offers so don't be afraid to make a serious offer.

An Almost complete list of restoration:
Full disassembly and rebuild of the 16hp Tecumseh engine including seals, gaskets, piston, rings, valve work, cylinder hone, etc., carburetor rebuild, fuel pump rebuild, new oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plug, new drive belt, jackshaft bearings, all new wheel bearings races and seals, new front brake cylinders, rebuilt rear brake cylinder, all rebuilt rear brake components with new brake shoes, all new brake lines, new master cylinder, all new oil cooler lines, new fuel sending unit, gas tank boiled sealed and coated, all new light bulbs, new choke cable, plus much more.
