1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible

1975 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Description:

Up for sale is a 1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible. This car is a 2 door, with a 350 cubic inch V8 engine. It has an automatic 3 speed transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, and power convertible top. It has air conditioning and cruise control. This car looks like it could be right out of the movie “Goodfellas”. The car runs and drives perfectly and everything works on the car. This car is registered and insured as an antique in Pennsylvania and is currently driven on the weekend a few times a month. The car has a clean PA title in hand.

The car was originally a New York City car, coming out of Manhattan, and made its way to Pennsylvania in the late 90s. Once arriving in PA, it sat in an older gentlemen’s collection in a garage for 14 years, only driven a few times per year.

I purchased the car when the gentlemen passed away. I then proceeded to spend a lot of hours and money to put the car back on the road and fully operational. We drained and replaced all the fluids, replaced 1 tire, replaced the transmission due to the hole becoming oval where the shifting rod enters the side of the transmission (there was a bad leak). I replaced the radiator due to a leak, and replaced the gearbox and cables and one bow in the convertible top. I also replaced some of the seals on the doors and top so that nothing leaks. We aligned the door fit to make sure that the doors close properly and align with the other body panels. Finally, I replaced the radio with a new custom autosound radio that produces modern sound but looks vintage and fits in the dash with no modification to the plastic covers in the dash.

This car was repainted sometime in the early 2000s and the paint is holding up nicely. The interior and tires are in great shape. The top shows signs of wear but there are no holes or rips and it seals up fairly well and goes up and down with the power switch. We have recently touched up some paint chips around the car as well.

This car is a fun cruiser and can easily fit six adults. It floats along the highway and has never left me stranded on many 2 hour trips to a lake in Central PA. It’s an honest driver. My kids, wife, and friends always ask me to take them out in it for ice cream. Amazingly there is very little wind “whip” on your hair when you are sitting in this big bodied convertible.

The air conditioning needs to be recharged. There is a small crack in the front fascia (fiberglass or plastic) around the right headlamp and a small dent on the right fender in front of the wheel. (Hard to see as it almost looks like a body line)
