1966 Oldsmobile Other f85 Description:

1966 Oldsmobile F85 455 big block .03 over

Same body as 442 and Cutlass. Life long rust-free Nevada car. Less than 600 miles since restoration. Not a rotisserie restoration, but basically a new car. Shows very well. Always gets attention and compliments where ever I go.

I built this for myself, but life got in the way. I accepted a position in another state to further my career and had to move. I went from a house with a 3 car garage to an apartment with no garage. The car is currently being stored in a relative's garage in Carson City, Nevada. I have a friend, who lives in Carson City, that is attending to the car until I move it or sell it. When I get settled into my new area I will purchase a house and have it shipped here. Now is your chance to buy it before that happens. If you want to come and see it I will contact my friend and arrange a showing. He helped build it and is very knowledgeable about what is there.

Engine and transmission

The car originally had a 330 V8 and 2 speed automatic. It now has an Oldsmobile 455 and TH400 transmission. The donor car for the engine and transmission was a 1971 Delta 88. They are both completely rebuilt with top quality stock and speed parts. This is the first rebuild on them. The block is bored .030 over (now 461 cubic inches). New cam bearings, freeze plugs and oil galley plugs. Minor decking to flatten and clean up deck surface. Speed Pro Hypereutectic Pistons with Teflon coated skirts and Plasma Moly rings. Compression comes in at 9.9985 according to the machinist (we'll call it 10:1). Rods resized and magnafluxed. Clevite 77 Rod and Main Bearings. The Crankshaft is a rare factory Nodular Iron Crankshaft. I read it will handle 850 plus horsepower, so all the racers back in the day used them up. Imagine my shock when we pulled the pan on this engine that came out of a sorry 2 barrel, single exhaust, no performance 4 door Delta 88! But there it was, plain as day, with the big letter "N" cast into the front counterweight. Serious bonus! I had it turned .010/.010 and rebalanced with a new flexplate and new Professional Products Harmonic Balancer. Lunati Voodoo Camshaft and lifters. Flat tappet hydraulic, .499 intake lift, .512 Exhaust lift. Camshaft is described as "Torque Monster" in the Summit Racing catalog and it is. New pushrods. Comp Cams timing set as follows: Billet crank gear, hardened cam gear and pre-stretched double roller chain. All Fel-Pro gaskets.

Heads are "G" code heads and have been completely rebuilt. Hardened exhaust valve seats have been installed for unleaded fuel. New valve guides. New Comp Cams steel rocker arm stands (factory was aluminum and in poor condition) and bridges. New rocker arms and hold down bolts. New Mondello valve springs. New Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake and Demon 750 CFM carburetor with vacuum secondaries and electric choke. Carburetor is composite not metal. New custom braided fuel line. Converted to cable operated throttle in place of factory linkage rods. New Summit Racing HEI Distributor with adjustable vacuum advance. New Summit Racing Ceramic coated headers. New Summit Racing 1700 RPM Stall converter. New 100 amp alternator. New stock parts include oil pump, starter, water pump, motor mounts and power steering pump.

The TH400 transmission is completely rebuilt. Forgive me, I don't know a lot about transmissions so I had it done by a shop. This is what I can remember about it. Alto Red Eagle clutches, Kevlar bands, Teflon coated pump bushing, 34 element hardened sprag, shift kit and adjustable vacuum modulator.

Frame, suspension and rest of running gear

New driveshaft and u-joints, shocks, front brake lines and all brake fluid. Converted to power front disc brakes with new Brake Booster and Master Cylinder. Rear end is stock with boxed Lower Control Arms. Front suspension, fenderwells and frame forward of firewall powder-coated black. New 3 core radiator. New inner and outer tie rod ends, sleeves and center link. Fresh alignment. Tires almost new on Centerline Meteor wheels. Fuel tank removed, cleaned and new pick up screen installed.

Body

Fresh paint. Rechromed front and rearbumper.New headlight bezels, front turn signals and tail light lenses. All new weather-stripping. Most of the glass is new. Very straight body with no dings.

Interior

New carpet, headliner, visors and rearview mirror. Seats reupholstered. New stereo and speakers, rear package tray (back dash) and front dash pad. All factory gauges and new circuit board to run them. New kick panels. New custom made door panels and rear panels behind doors next to rear seat. Very nice. Feel free to contact me with questions. 775*450*2986
