1985 Spartan Motors 300ZX LOADED Description:

Be ready to answer many questions because this car draws a huge crowd where ever it goes. Although this car looks like Cruella DeVille's car in 101 Dalmations, it is not. Cruella's car was a British built 1974 Panther de Ville.

Designed by Ron Sparks, whose past includes the design of the Clenet, the Spartan II was influenced by the 1934 Mercedes 500K in particular, and created by luxury auto builder Ned Lamoureaux in his San Marcos, California factory.

In the tradition of coach built cars like Duesenberg, Rolls Royce, Packard, and Cadillacs of the 20s and 30s; these luxury coach built bodies are mounted only on a Nissan 300ZX chassis after being stretched 23 inches. All mechanical service can be performed at any Nissan dealership.

Many celebrity, like Joan Collins (Actress), Eddie Murphy (Comedy Actor), Telly Savalas (Actor Kojak, Tony Dorsett (Dallas Cowboys), and Larry Holms (Heavyweight Champ), have owned a Spartan II.

This car was bought new off the Anaheim Auto Show floor and from Ned Lamoureaux, President of Spartan Motorcars Co. It is built on a 1985 300ZX chassis and was the primary marketing/demo and model for all publications and promo materials. It has had only one owner, my deceased wife Nancy, and the 19,550 miles are correct.

There were around 300 Spartan cars built between 1985 and 1990, the last year of production. Once finished, the cars were shipped to Nissan dealers across the nation with a suggested retail price of around $60,000. Other sources suggest that only 80 Spartan Its were built.
