1969 MG MGC Leather Description:

1969 MGC Convertible

This is one outstanding automobile ! It has been treated to a very thorough, ground up, nut and bolt,

rotisserie restoration. Just recently completed. The MGC is one of the most iconic and desirable

British sports cars ever built. This is a factorybuilt6 cylinder version of the classic MGB,

andwas only produced in 1968 and 1969. This car has been verified by the prestigious

British Motor IndustryHeritage Trust, as being authentic, with matching engine and chassis numbers,

and having the correct colors, and options. The certified document will be provided with the car.

There were only 1757 of these British roadsters made in 1969, and of those, only about 900 were

left hand versions imported to the U.S. Only a few remain, and very, very few in this condition.

When driving this competent and entertaining car, you can't help but have a big smile on your face.

The sounds, the smells, and the feel of driving this open air MGC are really hard to beat. It is totally ready

to go on a good, long road trip, or a quick run out to dinner. It takes you back to a time when things were

simpler and not burdened by so many government regulations. Cars were better looking, each one unique

and offering different options andstyle every year.

The MGC is a very different car than the MGB that it's based on. The only outside difference being the

aluminum hood with the horizontal and teardrop bulges, and the larger 15" wheels. Under the skin, however,

it's been transformed with the smooth, torquey 150 h.p. inline 6 cylinder enginethat replacedthe 92 h.p. 4 cylinder.

The engine bay and transmission tunnel were enlarged for the larger 7 main bearin, solid lifter cam engine.

Also, adjustable torsion bars replace the coil springs up front to save space, and to set the ride height.

The all new front suspensionnow features tube shocks in place of the old lever arm types. This more powerful engine

comes mated to an all new, all synchro close ratio 4 speed with optional overdrive.

The performance of the MGC is very energetic, but not busy, oroverworked. Athough not fastcompared to

modern sports cars, it is still plenty quick, and fast enough to keep up with today's traffic. It can hold it's own against similar

60's cars of its era: the Sunbeam Tiger, the Austin Healey 3000, and the Triumph TR-6. The MGC is much rarer

than any of these cars, though.

---- Virtually everythingon thisgreat machinehas been replaced with new, or been rebuilt.

Some significantUPGRADES have been made, such as :

**** Braking system has been re-engineered with bigger 4 piston disc brake calipers in front, manual Wilwood

dual reservoir, dual circuit master cylinder, and manually adjustable Wilwood front/rear bias proportioning valve.

**** All brake lines and fuel lines have been replaced with custom copper alloy lines, and flexible mesh stainless steel,

where needed. ( Same material that Porsche, AstonMartin, and Mercedesuse. Will not rust.)

**** All rubber suspension bushings replaced with SuperPro polyurethane units.(much tighter handling, more durable)

**** Lightened and trued flywheel. ( more responsive engine)

**** Milled cylinder head, and hardened valve seats installed.( better compression, and better for unleaded gas)

**** Insulated and carpeted trunk. (original factory was only painted)

**** New Electronic distributor. (no ignition points or condenser to change)

**** Mechanical Oil pressure gauge. ( replaces unreliable and inaccurate electric sending unit version,

but still retains original look)

**** Wilwood clutch master cylinder, with TRW clutch slave cylinder

**** Robbins soft top ( top of the line) with zippered rear window ( not available originally),

and Michelotti design folding frame ( more efficient, tighter folding frame...from later Mgb)

**** Dual 6 volt batteries converted to single 12volt, with single compartment.

**** All bolts/nuts to Grade 8, stainless, or new original.

All parts listed are NEW, unless noted : ( mostly English and American, where possible,

sourced mainlythru Moss Motors, and Victoria British)

* Side sill structure ( rockers ), both sides replaced. Each side consists of 4 pieces that run the whole

length of the sill, andunder the front fenders and rear 1/4 panels. They were then rustproofed. This entire

underbody is extremely solid, better than new, and since this car is of unibody construction, that is

critically importantin how solid it feels, how it handles, how quiet it is, and how long it lasts.

* Drivers side - bottom half front fender, and bottom half rear 1/4 panel replaced.

* Fenders and doors- they were baked, dipped in acid, and then metal finished. The insides were painted

with Por-15 ( a rust preventative paint, that dries ceramic hard), andsprayed with truck bedliner material.

* The rest of the underbody was taken down to bare metal, or factory primer ( where the metal wassolid ).

Any weakmetal was replaced. Then, it was painted with Por-15, followed by epoxy primer. Next, it was sprayed

with bedliner material, and finally, painted with the upper body color base coat / clear coat.

* All of this underbody structure was meticulously restored with high quality parts, on a rotisserie, by highly

skilled expert, to ensure that this MGC was brought back to life, better than ever.

MECHANICAL and ENGINE

* Matching numbers Engine, Transmission, and Overdrive units removed and rebuilt.

* Cylinder head- new hardened valve seats, valves, guides installed. Surface was slightly milled

to clean up and true.

* intake manifold sandblasted and painted.

* SU carbs rebuilt and high flow air cleaners installed.

* Engine block-

Cylinder head and engine block were hot tanked and totally cleaned up

before the machining processes were begun.

Crankshaft cleaned up ( turned .010), new bearings.

Camshaft reprofile, new lifters, cam bearings.

All seals, gaskets. Payen head gasket.

Oil cooler, lines, filter.

*** All engine machine work was done by CD's Engine in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They do

all types of engines, but specialize in MGs. They are highly respected and nationally known.

John Twist, the MGguru, of University Motors in Grand Rapids, recommended them.

They do outstanding work.

* After the machine work was completed, the engine block, cylinder head, and other appropriate items,

were painted the correct factory color of mint green, and then assembled.

*Flywheel- resurfaced, and lightened.

* Replaced single piston calipers with bigger 4 piston calipers.

* The leaky, prone to fail, old technology dual powerboosters with a single system, single master reservoir

were replaced with manual brakes. Much more fitting for a 2400 lb sports car.

*A top of the line Wilwood master brake cylinder with separate reservoirs for separated front / rear systems

was installed, along with a manually adjustable Wilwood front / rear bias proportioning valve, which is

mounted next to the master cyl. The pedal ratio was revised to reflect the requirements of the new manual

system. Also, a small residual valve for the rear drum brakes was installed.

The entire brake and clutch systemwas plumbed with copper alloy lines, except for the 2 stainless flex lines

for the front, and the 1 flex at the rear axle.

*New rear drums, shoes, wheel cylinders.

*All of theemergency brake cables and mechanisms replaced- E brake works great, like it should.

*Overall, the braking system is much improved, I think, and more reliable than the original setup.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT

Final note : I am a private individual, not a business, or a dealer. I have taken over 2 years, of almost full time

hard work, to save this car. It hadn't run, or been on the road in 30 years. It is now, a very fine car,

better than new. This MGC was built with the intention of making it an even greater looking and driving car

than itwas originally. I think I succeeded in doing just that. It is not 100 % historically accurate, but

very close. The few changes from original are almost invisible. Only a die hard purist would notice,

or even care. Besides, it could be taken back to original if desired with little trouble.

This car is ready to be driven and enjoyed.......now ! Don't miss this opportunity to own this car.

You wont regret it. Message me thru eBay for questions, or for more pics. During the restoration, at least

a thousand pics were taken.

P.S. If you have less than 10 feedback, contact me first so I won't cancel your bid.

Also, only serious bidders, please. Don't waste my time, and yours.

U.S, Canada bidders only. Good Luck !
