This is a later model MGA 1600, with original body, engine and transmission and is believed to be an all original car except for a respray, newer leather interior, and upgraded items listed below. The car appears to never have been in an accident and presents very, very well.
I'm a long time MGA enthusiast and this is my second MGA (I sold my first in 2007 after owning it for six years). I purchased this car in 2012 out of a car collection. While the car hadn’t been completely restored, it had been resprayed in the correct factory color (Iris blue), and the interior had been redone in the proper black leather with blue piping – this was done sometime in the late 80’s or early 90’s. The car currently shows 63,850 miles, and that is believed to be original after assessing the condition of the car, talking to the prior owner, and the owner prior to that.
After purchasing this car in 2012, the following repairs were conducted at Harold’s Auto Service in Portland, OR (receipts are included):
There is some surface rust on the gas tank where undercoating has peeled (as shown in the photos). As this is cosmetic, I have decided to leave it as-is rather than scrape and respray. There is also some minor rust in the inner sills. Neither of these issues have been bothersome enough for me to want to remedy, but in the interest of full disclosure…this is not a concourse car, but a very nice, very solid, and extremely presentable driver.
New Falken tires were added in 2014, along with new 72-spoke wire wheels. These wheels are from MWS Wire Wheel (the Moss supplier), and were custom ordered specifically for the MGA painted in black directly from the supplier -http://www.mwsint.com/custom/FitmentGuide/DisplayEntry.asp?category=87&carId=FG000075&make=MG&carYear=) . The original set of 48’ wire wheels come with the car.
This is a very loved and cared for MGA and is an drives very, very well. The interior is in excellent condition, and everything on the car is functional (although the fuel gage probably need calibrating). The car has been exercised regularly and has always been stored in a heated garage and never driven in the rain. Oil has been changed annually at the end of every driving season.
The car comes with a box of miscellaneous parts Moss parts, lots of MG and MGA-related books, photos from when the car was originally repainted, service records for all of the work mentioned above, and British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. The car has a fully functional newer top and side curtains in excellent condition, as well as a tonneau cover in excellent condition.
Vehicle is located in Portland, Oregon. Personal inspections welcomed.
