1949 MG T-Series MGTC Description:

You are bidding on one of the most documented 1949 MG-TC with only with 22,000 original Miles. The car is all original including the wood! This car has been a one owner car until September of 2017 when I purchased it from the original owner’s son.The car is Cream with its original red interior. It has its original engine with a Shorrock Super Charger that was installed by the original owner when the car was new.

The original owner was Frank Taylor of Kingsport Tennessee. In 1949 Frank Taylor was a well-known Comedian and Musician. He and his high school buddy where well known for their comedy skits. He was also well known for his collection of classic cars.He owned the historic Homestead Hotel and Duffer-Taylor Tire Service where he also sold new MG’s.He was the first MG and Jaguar Dealer in Kingsport. He purchased this 1949 MG-TC New from His dealer ship in Kingsport TN.

He installed the Schorrock Super Charger along with a M. Mallory dual point Distributor, and Magspark Ignition coil, Aluminum Valve Cover, and finned aluminum oil pan. This was all done when the car was new.In the 50’s or early 60’s He added the bumpers (aluminum), dual spare tire mount and luggage rack along with turn signals. He repainted the car in 1968 because he was restoring another MGTC car number 6748 Registry number 456.He thought he was painting one it would be just as easy to paint 2 at the same time since he owned a body shop at the time to.Everything else is original except the paint.

The car appears in the Sacred Octagon Registry in June 1966 along with 2 other cars he owned at the time. The Cars Registry #455.He is mentioned several times through the years in the Sacred Octagon (I have copies of every time they mentioned him) by other members that would travel to see him and his cars and he would put them up in his historic Homestead hotel that was built around the turn of the Century. They did a feature on him in august 1973 issue of the Sacred Octagon and showing pictures of his cars. They wrote

“TC 7252 (#455) on the right was Purchased new in April 1949 and is in Virtually original condition with its odometer showing a total of 20,000 miles. This car has a Shorrock Blower mounted and both cars have double-mount spare wheel carriers.”

Frank Taylor’s son Andy became the cars care taker after Frank Passed away in 1974 .The car has basically sat for several years. It came out once in the 80’s for a local car show and then went back into storage. When I purchased the car in September, I had the Fuel pump replaced with a new SU fuel pump, and had the brakes gone through with a new Stainless-Steel Master Cylinder from Abingdon Spares, new wheel cylinders and flex hoses. The original brake shoes where retained since they were in good condition. The car currently runs great.I have not driven the car on the road since the car still has old tires, and the original fan, Generator, and Supercharger belts on it.I have driven it far enough to shift it through the gears and make sure the gears are smooth. The compression check showed 160 psi in all 4 cylinders.

The car is a true time capsule!Everything on the car is way I purchased it.The dash is full of dash placks from different shows he took the car to in 60’s. The badge bar has all the club badges he belonged to on it.

The car is selling with NO RESERVE. This is a very rare opprutunity to own one of the most documented MG-TC’s left. Please look at the pictures and feel free to email or call 865-621-4012 with any questions.
