1964 MG MGB Roadster (Mk1)Chassis no. GHN3L/7388Engine no. 18G-U-H-75951.8L Inline 4-Cylinder 95 bhp, 110lb-ft torque @ 5,400 rpm.
Owned for many years by a retired gentleman on Gabriola Island, this MGB appears to have always been stored indoors and well-kept over a long period of ownership. It was purchased by our dealership at an estate auction and comes with everything shown in the photographs. The MGB runs and drives well. It shows signs of age and is patinated as one would expect a 110k mile original car. The interior and top appear relatively new, as does a tonneau cover. The hood boot cover appears original. Tires are in good shape. Chrome and other metal trim are ok with a few dents, but no major pitting. Wheel hubcaps could need re-finishing, one has a fairly large dent. The underside is largely dry with only one small patch of visible corrosion (pictured below). The engine/drivetrain has some typical oil leaks, but all fluids appear clean indicating regular oil changes. The engine is the correct date for the chassis of the car and we believe it is original. The earlier cars used a three-main-bearing crankshaft, indicated by the 18G-series engine number. All MGBs from 1963 to 1974 used twin 1.5-inch (38 mm) SU carburettors. All MGBs from 1962 to 1967 used a four-speed manual gearbox with a non-synchromesh, straight-cut first gear. This gearbox was based on that used in the MGA with some minor upgrades to cope with the additional output of the larger MGB engine.
These are a very popular, easy-to-drive, lovely British sports cars and are veritable icons of 60s and 70s motoring. This is a nice driver that could be used as is, or treated as a very good project car for restoration.
