1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Description:

I am selling my beautiful Mercury Comet Convertible. This is a California Car! I purchased it from the second owner early last year who loved it as much as I do and you will! He certified the mileage as correct which is now 88, 788 actual miles. It has a power top with new hydraulic lifting rams, Power Steering and power brakes. It came from the factory with the courtesy light group. I decided to restore this beauty and media blasted the rust free body down to bare metal finding only a few small dents and imperfections before professionally finishing it. It has a completely new vinyl interior and top installed. The engine was overhauled and bored only .030 oversize. The crankshaft was polished and is standard. All of the valve seats and guides and valves were replaced with the new hardened seats for unleaded fuel. Also installed was a new cam, lifters, pistons, rings, bearings, push rods, oil pump gaskets and seals. It has a new power Steering pump and hoses and a new water pump and thermostat. The alternato, battery, cables and battery are also new. There are new light bulbs through out and every thing works except the Radio and the power antenna which is not connected. The transmission was also overhauled and new u-joints were installed. All of the brakes, and brake hardware were replaced with a new master cylinder and wheel cylinders. The front end has also been fitted with new tie rod ends and sway bar bushings and it has new gas shocks on the front and rear. The wheels are the early Ford Motor Company GT wheels and the original wheel covers will go with the car. The bumpers and most of the chrome was triple chrome plated. It now will need some small items to really finish it off which I will leave to the next owner. It starts and runs flawlessly and has a very smooth and quiet ride. Only about 6000 of these convertibles were made and very few exist today so it is a real eye catcher.
