California car. Stock #: V18653 Exterior Color: Autumn Beige Interior Color: Beige Body Type: Hardtop Transmission: Merc-O-Matic Automatic Engine: 430-360 HP Title Condition: Clear Same collector has owned this car since the late 1980s! California car, clean body and floors. Believed to have 69,500 original miles.
The Turnpike cruiser was Mercury's flagship model. Built to commemorate the creation of the Interstate highway system. Each was fitted with advanced features like a retractable rear window, compound curved windshield and a trip computer.
EXTERIOR: The paint is over 40 years old. I think that says alot about the integrity of the body. It is laser straight with no rust or bubbles. The paint still shows very well. A few nicks touched up and a good buffing would make it beautiful. The chrome is bright and shiny and there is plenty of it, look at the size of the front bumper! Unique features include a retractable "breezeway" window, air inlets at top corners of windshield, continental kit and cruiser skirts. Has a unique front roof line at the windshield. Rocket style taillights and marker lights on the roof are cool.
INTERIOR: Original interior is in good shape. Has a small split at a seam on top the driver seat. Has padded dash, flat top steering wheel, chrome ribbed headliner, push button trans and starter.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has the optional bigger 430-360 hp motor. Runs smooth. It also features power steering and brakes. Clean and proper under the hood.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Giant trunk is all original. Has, carpet mat, jack and a whitewall spare that has never been used. Trunk light works.
UNDERSIDE: Looks like clean virgin metal. The floors, rockers and braces look to be clean original metal. Has stainless steel dual exhaust system. The transmission was just rebuilt.
This is a piece of 1950s Americana. Has so many unique features and "firsts" for a car. This one is a very honest original example. Some minor touching up and detail would really make it a jewel!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
Don't be intimidated, contact sales now for a no pressure, no hassle experience!

About Volo Auto Museum No other collector car dealer has been in business longer than the Volo Auto Museum. Owned and operated by the Grams family since 1960. We are the only collector car dealer that has 4 generations of experience with buying, selling and consigning classic autos. For our family, classic cars are more than a business, it is a passion. Over the decades, we have maintained a reputation for dealing with integrity as proven with our high reviews and A+ rating with the BBB. Buying a classic car can be exciting, but also stressful. We want to take the stress out of your buying experience by allowing you the time and tools you need to get to know the car you are interested in before making your investment, not after. Unlike auctions, we allow test drives, 3rd party inspections, the use of our shop and car lift. No reasonable request will be turned down. Selling a car can be equally stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. After reviewing your quality collector car, we will discuss the options we have available to you and let you decide what works best for you. We have cash available for immediate sales and we also offer a consignment program that surpasses anyone else’s. Unlike percentage based programs with fees; we work with a no fee, net to owner. This allows us the opportunity to treat and market your car as if it were our own. We invest approximately $1500 of our own money into marketing your car, which means if it doesn’t sell, we lose, not you. So, we are more aggressive in selling your car!
