I have decided to sell my 1970 Competition Green 428CJ Cougar Eliminator. This is a 1 of 1 car per the Marti Report. Most of you reading this who are followers of the classic cougar community are familiar with this car. I have not seen another cougar more frequently posted, loved, and admired on social media than this one. This is your chance to own this most special and desirable vehicle. I just did a google search for "green 1970 cougar eliminator 428CJ." 9 out of 11 of the first pictures you see are of this car. It is that popular. The car was featured in the 2015 WCCC Cougar calendar for not one but two pages. Calendar included with the car.
I have owned this car for 3 years and have loved every minute of it. It won 2nd place in its category at the 2015 East Coast National Cougar Show in Stockbridge, MA. It was judged by Dave Wyras, the Eliminator Registrar. Included in the sale are the judging sheets from the show which I have used for the last two years to guide my restoration towards originality for the car. I last displayed the car at the 2017 Ford Carlisle show where it was much admired.
I purchased the vehicle from Don Rush at West Coast Classic Cougars. Included here is Don's video of the car with his full review and critique, used with his permission of course. When I received the car from Don, I have to say it was even better than described and more impressive in person than I could have imagined. Since then I have continued to slowly improve on it and bring it back to originality.
This is a great driving, fun car. There is no other feeling like that of flooring the gas in a 428 Cobra Jet and feeling the incredible engine torque push you back in the seat while you try to hold on with the tires smoking all the way down the street. That feeling never gets old. I have enjoyed owning this car so very much. There are still many other cars out there that i would like to enjoy. I cannot own them all at once, so it is time for this one to go to a new home while I search for my next adventure.
This is a life long West coast car until I brought it to the East coast. During my ownership it has remained in appropriate storage and only taken out in clear weather. It has always been and remains a rust free vehicle. The black comfortweave seat upholstery remains original, very rare to have seats in this good condition and the replacement upholstery is just not the same. Headlights and tailight sequentials work properly. Rim Blow horn works. The car is in excellent shape and nearly everything works as it should. Only the clock, ammeter gauge, and 8 track are non functional.
This is a no reserve auction with a reasonable "buy it now." This car will be sold. This is one of the most popular Eliminators ever! It is a real 428 Ram Air Cobra Jet. Enjoy it as I have. It can be your's TODAY!

Payment in full is required prior to the car leaving my possession. Note that New York state does not issue titles for vehicles manufactured prior to 1973. Please understand the motor vehicle registration laws in your state prior to bidding. The car will come with a transferable registration in my name and a bill of sale for the actual purchase price. Also, understand the vehicle purchasing laws in your own household, i.e. check with your spouse. I will assist with loading and transportation, however cost and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. PayPal accepted for initial deposit only.
