1991 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Short Wheelbase Description:

Up for sale is my 1991 Mercedes-Benz 350SD, W126 chassis with the om603 engine. Peal Grey Metallic with blue MB-Tex interior. This is my daily driver. The car has 267,800 miles. I am the 4th owner of this car. I am selling because I took on more than I can handle.

This car has had the following maintenance, repair or parts replaced, either by a local shop (Star Automotive, Greenville, SC) or myself:

• Rebuilt transmission (252,000 miles)
• New transmission modulator valve
• Older respray (still shines)
• New tires ( June 2015. Michelin)
• New drive shaft
• New glow plugs with new ring terminals
• New glow plug relay
• New Overload Protection Relay (factory, not aftermarket)
• New windshield washer fluid reservoir
• New washer fluid motors
• New headlight doors
• Rebuilt fuel injectors (Monarch nozzles at a 250.00 cost)
• All new fuses (not relays)
• New grill insert
• New hood latch strap
• New hood star
• New Tecalan hard lines, all three, from injector pump (expensive)
• New flexible fuel lines
• New fuel return lines
• New lift pump
• New window switches on console
• New vacuum lines in engine compartment
• New vacuum fittings
• New engine overload protection valve
• Trip odometer has been repaired (Overseas Speedometer) mileage is accurate within 5 miles.
• Recent Bosch windshield wipers (correct size)
• New fan shroud
• New engine and transmission mounts
• New OEM floor matts (front and rear)
• New engine thermostat
• New coolant temperature sensor
• New heater monovalve (factory, not aftermarket)
• Added set of inboard break lights
• All exterior lights have been changed except headlamps
• Rear deck speaker grills have been replaced and painted to match interior. (These always seem to rot and are expensive to replace).
• I have owned this car for a year. I've only put 3,000+/- miles on it. Most recent maintenance that has been performed is as follows.
• Oil change (Mobil 1 15w-40)
• New oil filter
• Diesel purge (fuel injector cleaner)
• New fuel filters
• New air filter
• Amsoil diesel injector clean used with fuel fill ups.
• Recent A/C recharge

This car runs very well, when warmed up. Keep in mind that this car has almost 270,000 miles. Shift performance is excellent. The interior is in good condition. No rips or holes in the MB-Tex, just cracking, similar to distressed leather. The dash is perfect. The wood is very good, a few cracks, here and there, in the lacquer but not noticeable. All gauges work, including clock. The power seats do work, but no memory. Sunroof does slid and tilt up except when cold, has been lubricated with MB sunroof grease only. The rear sunshade works but does stick sometimes in the up position. All windows raise and lower, driver side is slow when cold. Steering wheel could do with new leather. Climate control works, all speeds and directions including automatic function. Cold air is excellent. Heat is moderate.Headliner is very good, no sagging holes or stains. Carpet is very good, no holes or stains. Carpet in trunk is good, no holes.The body is straight. There are few dings, commiserate with age. No rust that I can see. All doors open and shut without effort.There is a spare tire on a factory rim, but it is used. Original MB tool kit and jack are intact. Original owner’s manual with maintenance book up to 164,xxx miles. 3 keys and a leather MB key pouch are included.

• 5 specific tools, a 25mm wide socket for fuel injectors, splined socket for injector valves, glow plug removal tool, fuel tank filter removal socket and prechamber removal tool (which has not been modified to fit a slide hammer).
• Pulse code reader
• Other tools included, a vacuum tester and a vacuum pressure gauge
• Fire extinguisher
• Diesel purge kit
• Numerous other spare parts both original and aftermarket.

Now the issues that need to be addressed. Trouble shooting will be up to the new owner. Once this car is sold you are on your own, like I was. This car came equipped with ASD (Automatic Slip Differential) and the warning light on the instrument cluster is on but, showing no fault code, to complex for me. There is an intermittent rough idle at low rpm, this is not frequent, but should still be monitored. The headlight wipers do not work. All the lights work, but the lightbulb warning light does come on when the fog lights are activated. A few metal brackets have been removed from the engine compartment in order to "clean in up". A metal bracket that holds the cruise control relay under the dashboard had to be removed in order to change the brake light switch. The delivery valve seals and gaskets should be changed, the tool and parts are included. Injector holder 1 and 2 will eventually need to be replaced but, not the nozzle.

The car still runs good. Gas mileage is around 300 miles in town, on one tank. I haven't owned the car long enough to gauge oil usage. The car does smoke, but it's moderate. No leaking around the injectors or injector pump. The car has been in a front end collision some time ago. It doesn't appear to have had much body work done. All I can see is a new headlight and turn signal and maybe the bumper and fender. It has several years of life left if maintained. The new owner will have the books and tools for most of the minor maintenance. Should have enough filters for the next oil change.

My asking price is $6,000. I understand this car has high miles, but it does come with many goodies. Please email me with any questions.
