Very rare color combination and with the very rare option of the bucket seats front and rear, this by far a dream car for many.
The car does have a small leak from the head gasket and will need to be looked at. We did a compression and compression is consistent (SEE PICTURES)
This car could be used as a driver after the repairs or it could be taken to the next level. The chrome is fair for a drive, the top does have a small tear on the rear driver side, the interior is very nice, and the paint is fair with some blemishes. Again this is not a show car but was driven as a very nice driver. The floors are very nice (SEE PHOTOS).
We welcome inspections at anytime.
Also, we can assist with shipping worldwide.
HISTORY:

Design of a replacement for the two-door Pontons began in 1957. Since most of the chassis and drivetrain were to be unified with the sedan, the scope was focused on the exterior styling. Some of the mockups and prototypes show that Mercedes-Benz attempted to give the two-door car a front styling almost identical to what would be realised in the Pagoda roadster,[citation needed] but ultimately favoured the work of engineer Paul Bracq. The rear featured small tailfins, subtle compared to the fintails' and evocative of the later squarish styling of the W108/W109.

Production began in late 1960, with the coupe making its debut at the 75th anniversary of the opening of Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart in February of the next year. The convertible followed at the Frankfurt Auto Show a few months later. Almost identical to the coupe, its soft-top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat and was covered by a tightly fitting leather "boot" in the same color as the seats. Unlike the previous generation of two-door ponton series, the 220SE designation was used for both the coupe and convertible; both received the same version of the 2195cc M127 engine. Prices in 1962 were 32,500 for the coupe and 36,000 NLG for the cabriolet. Options included a sliding sunroof for the coupe, automatic transmission, power steering, and individual rear seats.
