1979 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description:

This is a 1979 Mercedes Benz 300SD turbo diesel.It has 82289 original miles. I got this from the second owner. It went into service as a two year lease in 1979. Then a doctor in the Erie area bought it when the lease was up. I bought it from the widow of the doctor. The car had been stored in a dry garage for many years. The wife took it to a local Mercedes dealership for service before putting it up for sale. I spoke with the dealership service department and they assured me it was a fantastic car.It currently has a valid Pennsylvania inspection - good through August 2019.The car runs great. Shifts smoothly. I stored it in my garage over the winter. I got it out today and it started first try, no problem.The only negatives are some of the cosmetic items. It looks great going down the road. However, up close, the paint along both sides below the door handle and above the chrome strips, has crazing and horizontal marks. I know the paint is original. I'm not sure what caused it. The tires are the ones that came with it, but have lots of tread. Comes with a spareThere are a few spots of surface rust (see pictures.) - two spots at edges of sunroof, some near wheel wells.Floors are solid. Trunk is good.The under-hood insulation is drooping.The interior is in great original condition. It has the original radio and cassette player that works. The heater and air conditioner work. - may need some charging, but blew cold. A few small cracks in the dash.White head liner needs some cleaning.Sunroof opens and closes.The underneath has been undercoated.I'm confident driving the car any distance and it was giving me 30 miles per gallon.
