1970 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Base Description:

Up for your consideration is my 1970 Mercedes 220D 4spd manual. I bought this with the intention of making it my daily driver and lightly restoring it. I achieved that pretty successfully over the past couple years. I recently stopped using it as my daily driver because the water pump started leaking and at the same time I bought another car. Aside from the water pump, the runs and drives really well.
I replaced and maintained a lot of parts over the years, some of which include: radiator, fan clutch, rebuilt fuel injectors with upgraded nozzles, rebuilt fuel pump and timing adjusted, modern pencil glow plugs with auxiliary switch, rear brakes, and new tires (less than 200 miles on them)
Parts that need replacing that are included in the sale: front brakes including calipers and flexible lines, all rubber door/trunk seals, front and rear rubber window seals, front and rear coil springs, a/c compressor w/bracket and dryer.
Parts needed that are not included: front and rear speakers (NOS later model blaupunkt radio is included, I just haven't had a chance to buy and install speakers), various knobs, a/c condenser, water pump, drive shaft centering bearing (this part IS included but not sure if it's the right size)
Misc parts included: original stock radiator (leaking), brake booster, various specialty tools.
I can confidently say this car is fairly solid. It was originally a Californiacar, the dash is cracked as a result of the Californiasun. All the body damage was there when I bought it. It looks as if a tree fell on the roof, the previous owner didn't know either. The rear window surprisingly doesn't leak as a result of this. It has only been in Chicagofor a couple years and has never seen the snow. It has it's share of squeaks, rattles, noises and general head scratching moments as with all classic cars. If it wasn't for the water pump, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the US. However, being a 2.2L NA diesel, it is rather slow. It keeps up with modern traffic on the streets, but it's certainly confined to the right lane on the motorway.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but when I remember I will update the listing. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
