1985 Mercedes Benz 300 D w/turbo

1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description:

I am the second owner of this 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel with 75,600 miles. I purchased it knowing that it was not in perfect condition because my intent was to purchase a daily driver, not a show car. One of the deciding factors in this purchase was the anthracite color exterior matched with a black interior. The combination is more contemporary than other color combinations offered by Mercedes at the time. Driving it for the last 27,000 miles has been a very enjoyable experience especially when taking 1,600-mile round trips to the Seattle area. I’m selling it because I lost my garage spot. Title is in hand. Sold as is where is.

Maintenance items done:

All belts replaced @ 49,000 miles.

Replaced (with new) the fuel tank and filter @ 52,000 miles.

Ball joints and valve adjustment @ 61,000 miles.

Wheel alignment and 5 new Michelin Defenders @ 65,000 miles.

Battery replaced in November of 2017.

Transmission serviced about 100 miles ago has no leaks.

Brake and power steering fluids have been replaced and have no leaks.

Coolant looks good with no leaks.

Fuel filter, oil and oil filter recently replaced – no fuel or oil leaks.

Oil has been changed every 5,000 miles with Motul 20/50 oil.

The rear window seal has been replaced. The trunk and wheel wells are dry and stay dry.

As I understand it, the turbo was replaced at about 49,000 miles but cannot verify it.

A/C converted to R134.

I have most of the receipts.

The engine starts right up and runs flawlessly.

Transmission shifts as it did when new.

Everything on this car works well; A/C, power windows & locks, original radio, power antenna, all gauges & lights, power sunroof, passenger mirror and rear glass defroster.

The headliner, seats, dash, carpet, door panels and headliner are in perfect condition.

The wood grains are almost perfect, noted below.

It brakes straight without pulsations. Pads front & rear at about 50%. Rotors show some wear.

Windows operate quickly with no hesitations.

All glass is crystal clear.

The underside has very little to no rust. The rest of the car is rust free.

The paint is deep and lustrous.

Top of right front fender has imperfect paint. It looks small droplets of something affected the color coat. So far no one has noticed. (But then I haven’t put it into a show car environment.) See photo.

There is a chip on the hood.

Wood grains at the shift console has three cracks.

Wheels could use new paint. Photos are typical of all 4 tires and wheels.

There is a screw cap missing right side of console just under the glove box.
