HISTORY OF THE 280SLThe 113 Mercedes-Benz platform was introduced in the summer of 1963 as the 230SL. Designed to continue the SL line from the iconic 190SL and the legendary 300SL, the new 113 SL provided a sporty driving experience with an adequate level of comfort. The iconic "Pagoda" shape was defined by the removable hardtop and aluminum boot that concealed the convertible top when not in use. The large chrome grill and three pointed star upfront harked back to the previous generation of SLs while customers were enticed by the fuel injected inline-six cylinder engine, excellent handling suspension and powerful brakes. The 280SL was first assembled in December 1967 and marked the third and final generation of the 113 chassis. With an upgraded 2.8 liter 195 horsepower engine, the 280SL marked the 113 chassis transition from a sporty two-seater to a finely appointed, adequately powered sports roadster. In the U.S., most 280SLs received a factory 4-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. Considered by some to be the last classic SL, the 280SL has become a highly sought-after automobile by both collectors and motoring enthusiasts. Financing

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard "used car" rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, (314)291-7000 or credit@schmitt.com

    * Rates vary depending on year of car, length of term and credit score.
