1979 Mercedes Benz Wagon Resto Mod - Ground up Restoration. Custom V8 Conversion with less than 100 miles on this restoration!Complete and documentedreference manual. Rare Benz Wagon built to drive and enjoy. Vehicle was tagged and inspected expired Mar 2018. Needs a few minor items to be truly 100%. About 80% complete and all parts go with the car. Vehicle has been in a climate controlled garage during the entire restoration. Build started with a Ford 5.0 fuel injected V8 and was driven less than 20 miles. I then decided to put in the Chevy Tuned Port engine in. The rebuilt Tuned Port engine came out of a 1989 Corvette that I drove before it was taken out of the Corvette. The engine has not been run or started since it came out of the Corvette. Too many toys so something has to go. Would not take much to make a nice daily driver/show car. To Do List:
Adjust sunroof.Re-adjust steering stops.
Spray dye and install sun visors.Install battery box hold down.Paint lower rocker section that is black by front fenders.Plug in Euro headlamps and aim headlamps. Original US headlamps also go with the car.
Run down pipes from new exhaust manifolds which is already in progress as you can see from photo.Mount computer and relays under seat or in glovebox.Start engine and drive to remove rust that is starting to form on new brake rotors from storage.Install battery hold-downfor new relocated battery/box.Install the remaining carpet glue ins that are located at back seat floor.Install dash lower trim covers.Install new tail-lampsand the new bulbs.Install and recover A-pillar and B pillar seat belt trim caps.Install new heater hoses and check and bleed coolant system.Install Benz emblems in new grille and on steering horn cap.Install quarter glass trim(optional).Recheck transmission fluid level.Install console trim and power window switches.Adjust and lube rear lift gatelock.Install remaining new chrome button head bolts in bumpers.Install New Polished Vacuum canister is still in box and needs to be mounted on firewall and plugged in.Install Mercedes turn signal pedestal needs to be mounted to steering column.Install New billet gas pedal installed to replace old original, which I have.More parts are in boxes that go with car some extras parts also.Hook up dash gauges and adjust new electric speedometer or purchase GPS adapter.Install radio and speakers.Install new ac dryer that is still in the box and charge ac system.Install new headliner
